I agree with the first part of your sentence, but I do not believe idiots are running any team in the NHL. Yes people have different skill sets, but so called idiots get weeded out (Milbury, McGuire) not extended.
- Makita

Idiots is hyperbole, but there’s been quite a few below average GM’s employed throughout the years.

I’m like the placeholders strategy to buy time for development, but not signing ones for 3+ years.

Sedins are only useful if spoon fed easy minutes + PP time.

Watch how many times a line has a decent shift in the offensive zone and during the next whistle in the o-zone , it’s the Sedins hopping over the boards. I’d rather see younger players utilized like that.

Horvat and Sutter insulate the Sedins lol, you can argue how effectively they do it, but that’s how they’re used.

- Nucker101

All very true.
Sedins like i said hold us back from others stepping up & scoring. Their TOI & zone starts control other players resigning for less somewhat.

I love how the TDL hasn't even gone by yet. The freak out has already started.
Other teams make trades every year at the TDL and no matter whether we have the same pieces to trade or not. There is still a freak out.

Nash was #1 or 2 on the trade list. I didn't see any Canuck players that high on the list.

If Van had Karlsson and the team was even consider trading him. Roger arena would have a riot going on outside.

How did it go with Hamhuis and Vrbata the year before.
- VANTEL

Hamhuis was late to give a few teams.
Vrbata an unwanted turd.

i guess i just don't know who you're talking about and don't think it's as black/white as you make it out to be.

i'm fine with signing Guddy. WAs happy with the moves at the last tdl (aka embracing change).
Was glad we moved on from Wille and liked the Green signing (still do).
i think changes need to be made, but don't think we need/can do a complete tear down.

and i guess i just don't see the point in getting angry over it all.

- dbot

And you are the perfect example of being Codes definition of a Pom Pom waver. You are not allowed to be complacent...get angry man.

Vrbata (frank)ed the team over after whining about his role. I can give JB a pass on that one.

Hamhuis situation was bizarre, he had a NTC but teams like Dallas preferred to trade more for a worse dman.

JB brought in 2/3 of the shutdown line. Sutter/ Eriksson.

Propelled the prospect pool to respectability.

Management has shown real loyalty to the Sedin's and Edler. Something that Gaudette has said something that is huge to him.

Take the bad with the good.

Gagner Sutter were brought in to do exactly this . They can now ease the twins out the door . If not Benning has failed on the stop gap signings

He did do it with Burrows & Hansen in their final year of a contract. Give it some time.
- Nighthawk

Burrows waived for a 2 year extension and Hanson was MTC, Edler is a full NTC he doesn't have to give JB a list at all.

Vrbata scored 31 goals the year before , they had all year to move him . Why was Hamhuis late? More indecision by Canuck management.

I doubled check TSN's trade bait board. Vanek is now #10. I'd say he's worth at least a 2nd round pick. As seen from last year Vanek has a stigma attached to him. What I would really like is Jacob Larsson and a 4th from Anaheim.

Say what you will about Quinn, but he left this franchise in a complete mess.

He's immortalized now but at the time many fans were upset with the state of their team. A real low point in canuck history.

Semantics. It did happen.
As for Edler i say pressure him.
NTC’s are not unbreakable.
Do this and who here would give JB credit for big balls? I respect a GM who honours past & present contracts & players will too.
Does not mean if he needs to crack eggs to make an omelette it stops him.

My apologies Vantel i regress 😜😂

You can poo poo signing Kane but it is retarded to bring in two 38 year old players with full NMC to a rebuild team . It is beyond dumb.

Even if they come in at 2 mil each that is 4 mil that could be better spent

- VANTEL

Kane is not a piece a rebuilding team should sign. LE is bad enough. We should get cheap stop gaps that can allow our guys to develop, but can also be sent down if those guys deserve roster spots. MDZ should be traded at TDL next year. Gagner can be traded whenever, hell I would retain a mil and trade him now if we could. We should give ourselves cap space to take on deals.
I would trade LE to OTT for Bobby Ryan and a 2nd if he waives. LE actual salary is much lower than Ryans so Melnyk saves money, it only costs us an xtra 1.25m in cap space and same contract length. If need be Bobby's contract can be bought out as well. And we get an extra 2nd. THAT is using our cap space right IMO.
