You and me both man - what an absolutely bizarre trade - Brooks_Light
I guess the other silver lining is, that he fits the age group. If we are wanting players between 22-25, he fits the bill. |

This is Willy D all over again.
Green had Leipsic in Portland where he led in 2012-2013 where he scored 120 points. - Codes1087

Toronto media are giving Jim Benning big props for this trade. Thinks that he would fit absolutely perfectly with Boeser/Horvat because he is a smart playmaker and passer. I don't really know much about Leipsic - Codes1087
bit scrappy, works the o-zone well but has some defensive deficiencies. When you look him up on youtube, you'll get a few fights and highlight reel. He crushed the AHL level last year with the marlies. I don't love giving up on Holm, but this guy is 3 years younger and way more fit to be in NHL lineup than most our players. |

They’re still doing this age gap poop? I hope not.
I hope they made this trade because they flat out like Leipsic better than Holm.
I agree with vancity, hard to judge this trade until both of these players actually play more games. |

reports online are that "he is essentially Marchand-lite. Plays with grit, likes to hit, and loves to get under the skin of the other team. Once received a unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for drinking out of the opposing goalies water bottle between whistles." |

absolutely no point in judging this trade until we see more from both players. I see both sides of this trade, but still don't understand it. |

this is accurate to what I've seen. Bit of an agitator, gets in the muck |

He's been playing mainly Centre with Cody Eakin and Alex Tuch, put up good numbers in the AHL and I knew Leafs never really gave him a chance. Sounds like maybe he's a Dowd replacement. |

Hopefully he’s good enough for the NHL. This team is too easy to play against. A guy who can actually play and annoy the (frank) out of the other team would be welcome. |

hard to get a pick for a player who was undrafted and only played 1 nhl game tho. |

He's been developed at the AHL level properly and is 23. plays pretty fiesty. We gave up a undrafted free agent for him. This is a win. - neem55
Also we are too deep in 6-7-8 D. 😜
I like Holm but a little soft.
Leipsic is a solid add. |

Justin Bourne @jtbourne
Thoughts on Leipsic: when he's on, he controls games to a preposterous degree. There are games the puck is on his stick for like five full minutes. When he's off, the turnovers can be disastrous. High risk/reward, every night. Tons of fun to watch. |

I wonder if he's the gritty, 4th line guys JB was talking about tryin to attain? Bjugstads was the guy everyone alluded to. |

If Ryan Biech likes this trade, I will keep an open mind about it
"I've been a fan of Leipsic's game for awhile - from a thought process, the move makes sense. Risk of Holm heading home to Sweden and the organization gets a player that they have been rumoured to have interest in for a while." |
