That was different. They put all the expansion teams in one division and the original 6 teams in the other. So one of the expansion teams had to make the final.

Out of the current bottom five teams, Arizona/Buffalo/Ottawa/Vancouver/Montreal, I think only Sabres are in worse shape than the Canucks heading into the draft for the first three rounds.

They have one 1st, one 2nd but no 3rd. Canucks have one 1st, one 2nd and one 3rd. Everyone else has multiple picks in the top three rounds.

Buffalo - 1st/2nd/no 3rd
Arizona - 1st/2nd x3/3rd
Ottawa - 1st x2/no 2nd/ no 3rd (they have Karlsson to trade though)
Montreal - 1st/2nd x4/3rd
Vancouver - 1st/2nd/3rd
