He has not improved at all. Columbus also gave him up for next to nothing. He seemed to show some promise last season, but has regressed this year.
From what I remember he wanted out of Columbus because they weren't giving a chance in the NHL. Probably not happy this season that the leafs haven't given him any time. Who knows, maybe if a team gives him an NHL spot, he gets happy and starts to release some of that potential. But from what I've seen on the Marlies this year, he us not an NHL player. - VT001
The kid could have a monster summer..come to camp. .and take a job on the 4th line. .and be similar to Martin? ...who knows? ..but it's a definite win for both clubs. .unless placs. Shats the bed for the leafs ..maybe a bergy side deal? ..you frank up the leafs playoffs. .and we'll resign you for an extra mil ..mind you with our luck. .we won't need the help ..all the best moving forward Habs |

Thanks Hunter old pal!
I'm happy with the return we got for Plek, will be weird seeing him with the Leafs.
If any of Valiev or Rychel becomes anything more than AHLers, it'll be a bonus.
Cheers! |

Good deal for the Habs
Valiev and Rychel were never going to crack the Leafs roster, but both are probably good enough to play prominent roles on this MTL team - AxlRose91

Pretty good deal for both teams. Then again, I have wanted Plekanec on the Leafs for a long time. I get that he has lost a step and isn't going to light it up offensively, but if you don't need offense from him, I think he is a pretty solid #4C

2nd round picks don't work that way.
At the moment it's the 57th |

I would have rather taken another pick than take some of the Leafs crap. Yay! another 4th liner (maybe) and another bottom 6 d-man. MB just couldn't help himself. |

Not even close. Got a 6 7th D man at best
A 4th line winger MAYBE and a late 2nd rd pick |

Well, prospect pool is very thin....It's nice they add a little even if they're not sure shot NHLers. |

Plek will be back this summer IMO. According to many Leafs fans, Habs got a potential top 4D, top 6 F and a 2nd round pick for Plek and a career ECHLer - Symba007
I have a hard time believing more than two, let alone many, Leafs fans said that. And if two did, they’re wrong. |

Depends on your definition of bad.
Valiev is a defenseman with big upside but that never lived up to it. He's doing OK in the AHL but has yet to take the necessary step to make the NHL at 22 years old.
Rychel was seen as a potential 4th/3rd liner two season ago but saw his performance drop out this season.
In both cases, interesting gambles but if they do end up as NHL players, it will be a bonus. |

If they really want that to happen they should fire Lefebvre... |

Habs have something like 5 picks in the second round now no?
Might actually draft someone decent by accident! |

he has before.
i am so disappointed with Drouin. maybe he's just been miscast all season but does not look like a dynamic player at all, just a solid second liner. - DoubleDown
Shouldn't a solid second liner get more the 9 goals though? |

Also, decent return in Plekanec a 2nd rounder is good but sad to see a longtime hab go. |
