Scherbak will be back up this by this time tomorrow - obie
Not if they can find more 3rd and 4th liners to throw in the line up. And a few 6-7 D so they can sit Juulsen and Mete out, too. |

If anything, they will trade depth guys. Bergevin might be dumb, but he 's not that dumb. This season is over. |

Well they just picked up a big Dman with no offensive upside....so there’s that! Alzner can mentor him and teach him how to hug Stamkos |

People were female doging about 2nd round picks like hell in here. Mtl has now 4. They are doing good on that front. |

2nd round picks are great! Just not when Montreal has them lately.
And when they even remotely pan out...there’s the development issues...then not utilizing them properly or playing them in their positions.
Especially when the team is heading the opposite way the NHL is. Maybe they should draft a time machine |

I know the Habs used to be high on Rychel; has he busted completely since? |

Good deal for the Habs
Valiev and Rychel were never going to crack the Leafs roster, but both are probably good enough to play prominent roles on this MTL team

I don't see Galchenyuk doing much better than Drouin as a center, but they don't have much to lose this season. - deadpoulet
he has before.
i am so disappointed with Drouin. maybe he's just been miscast all season but does not look like a dynamic player at all, just a solid second liner. |

worst part is he's not even wrong.

The more troubling thing about this trade is to know that Bergevin is still having a job and making trades. |

Galchenyuk did well when the season was already over.
Most of Mtl players had a down year and some could bounce back next season (Pacioretty, Drouin, Galchenyuk, Price, Lehkonen, etc).If this is the new normal, than...oh well. |

ok well that was the only time he got to play center that season. and he excelled in the role last season before his knee injury. he's shown more aptitude for it than Drouin. at least offensively. defensively they both suck.

They could put him back there since they have not much options. Still think a trade is the best option with that much wingers on the team. |

Mr. Peanut. .you say that a win for Toronto. And a loss for Montreal. .how so?..aside from bergy apparently having a better deal(offer) in place with Winnipeg. .he promised him he would try and keep him in the east! ..and that he did. .with 4 2nd rounders now..it could give the Habs options of moving up?..or aquiring a player at the draft? .. |

Of the 2 AHL'ers, Valiev still has pretty good upside... Not offensive upside, but he should turn into a pretty dependable 5-7 for many years. Rychel is pretty much what he will always be; good AHL guy who might be able to crack your big lineup if you're really 'tanking'.
Pretty much a trade for the pick... decent for both teams.

He has not improved at all. Columbus also gave him up for next to nothing. He seemed to show some promise last season, but has regressed this year.
From what I remember he wanted out of Columbus because they weren't giving a chance in the NHL. Probably not happy this season that the leafs haven't given him any time. Who knows, maybe if a team gives him an NHL spot, he gets happy and starts to release some of that potential. But from what I've seen on the Marlies this year, he us not an NHL player. |
