Unless the Leafs follow up this trade with an upgrade on defense, they have essentially given away a relatively high draft pick for a short-term fix. - BreathLeafs2015
4th line center on Leafs was broken?? |

I'm ok with the price paid but they'll need to strip him down out back of the ACC and power wash him a few times. - markmark

if you are talking about a package deal, they can totally still do that. if a top 4 guy is coming back our way it will require a 1st regardless |

good trade! didnt give up much at all, 2nd rounder like last year for boyle, but I think plekanec makes a great 4th line center! I hate MTL but this should piss them off more with him playing for the leafs - spirovski
Yeah! I love this trade for the Leafs. MUCH better than what the Bruins gave up for a player like Nash lol. I'm hoping for an ECF matchup between the team of the present (pens) and the team of the future (Toronto). Much like Detroit and pens years ago....although, I feel like this could be a serious playoff rival for at least 5 more years. Both teams, and Tampa, are really set up well.
Sorry, just love the way all three teams are run! |

The move is just a depth move.... AHLers for a depth c.... leafs just beat the bruins without arguably their best player, who should be back come playoff time.. the bruins just moved 5 pieces for Nash, and signed Brian Gionta.... |

Agree. .tho the cost - MR.Hunter
What cost really?! Two guys who were AHLers? The second that is closer to a third?!
And lets not forget its Montreal. Those fackers will blow the pick going off the board for some lical french kid who retires after his Q days are done!!

you come off as whining.
what you say made little sense.
only one of boston tampa and toronto can possibly go deep. two of the three will be gone by round three. yet shame on the leafs for trying to improve by trading a small piece of the future but kudos to other teams who do it. i dont think the leaf will beat boston and/or tampa. i also dont think they dont have a good chance either. none of us know what will happen. what we do know is toronto has beaten both this season. as they have the leafs. - systemtool

The maturity of Tomas Plekanec will be missed in Montreal, but they appear to have received fair trade value, parlaying his departure & that of a spare part into the arrival of a potential top four defenceman, a former 1st round pick in need of a new start & a high draft pick.
Can't believe we traded Rinat Valiev the future top 4 D, Rychel the 1st round phenom and a high draft pick that's going to be a late 2nd
- Santo_44
Yup. Crazy talk.
I’m ok with this. Would’ve liked that 2nd to be 3rd, but Plec will look good with Komo and Kappy over Moore. |

The pens are proof that good coaching, a high end attack, and average D can win a cup. The Bruins are absolutely beatable. Let the offense be the D in the playoffs. Although, JVR could still be moved for someone. Wish Mike green was on the radar. Get as many puck moving D as possible. |

I thought Bruins fans liked Spooner and now he's a cap dump the same as Beleskey...
I hope Nash ends up like Iginla 2.0 for them |

They really paid a lot for Nash. Plus got old man Gionta and lost Bergeron to injury. Yikes. |

Likely by the draft get the second back though. Rights to JVR. Bozak could be moved in a package now too = to a second rnd pick. |

They are both RFA's and neither is going to sign a minor league deal meaning they would have to go through waivers.
Have you thought of that, huh..HUH? |
