You can have him back after the Leafs lose to Boston in 3. - Steven_Seagull
sounds about right....
Plekanec even admitted he and Bergevin talked about that possibility.
"So you go sabotage the Leafs and you come back in two months"

That's the Rick Nash factor right there. |

Is the UG soap opera over yet?
The Plekanec deal was a good deal for the Leafs, he is going to be our 4th line C, and frankly, he is over-qualified to be a 4th line..
We don't know how long Matthews is out for, but once he is back, we can roll with;
Matthews
Kadri
Bozak
Plekanec
It's obvious Babcock doesn't trust Moore, as he does not play him late in close games. Now, we got a decent shutdown/checking center, that frees up Kadri and Matthews from having to go up against other teams top lines, which is an added bonus
Our 4th line is Kapanen - Plekanec - Komarov.. That is nice too have - PatC80
Yup, and Plec is a natural center who's great on the draw and will play PK too, which we haven't really had.
Plec will give us a second shutdown unit in Komarov/Plec/Kapanen; basically we have 4 lines and another center that can be used in all situations.
He's lost a step for sure, but he's always been a solid two-way center his entire career, so I welcome this over Glendening playing above his head every night.

i disagree.
the leafs should rebuild. trade the good young players for picks. theyll fetch a good load of prospects and picks. just think about it. we can pretend we have no chance to win today so we can pretend well have a chance to win in the future! - systemtool

I know it sounds unlikely.
But maybe playing and acting like a fool for the first 5 years of his tenure was all an act FOR THIS VERY MOMENT! |

Say we move out JVR for a 1st, 2nd, and a quality young center who can slot into a sheltered role next year on the 3rd line:
Assuming Matthews is back in time for round 1:
Hyman Matthews Nylander
Marleau Kadri Marner
Kapanen Bozak Brown
Moore/Leivo Plekanec Komarov
Does this really look that worse without JVR in the lineup? Obviously we lose a net front option on the PP, but Marleau wouldn't look terrible there either.
That 3rd line looks hella more responsible than one with JVR on it too. |

i think if we move jvr out today we need to flip some assets for a dman like hjlamarsson. probably too much to happen today.
i think we trade for a guy like holzer and call it a day. |

we only have our full slate of 7 picks going in to this year's draft. not enough for a time that's 5 years away.
*checks vancover. lol. |

If traded today, I don't see JvR being trade for picks/prospects.. Maybe a player for player deal. I don't think Leafs management is giving up on this season like UG wants them too. |
