that would nice man. Not sure who's going to pay that.
we'll find out by 4pm est tomorrow if he did fetch such a nice bounty - dmnted
If Plekanec got a 2nd and two prospects, Bozak can get a 1st round pick. Just a matter of putting him on the market and be willing to sell him. |

i agree, second year in a row doing the same bs as the last 50 years, where has that gotten us? we were finally starting to get a good young team together and just got to go back to rushing. slight improvement for 4c.. will he be the great add to win us the cup? not even close, just a waste! we got Dermott, Bracco, Grunstrom, Korskov and Rasanen with second rounders, would you trade any of them for a 35 year old 4c? i sure as hell wouldnt. just stupid! - ToMaLe
Ross, Ryan and Finn were second rounders. |

Where is Brian Boyle right now? Playing for another team. 27 games of Boyle for a 2nd round pick and a 1st round exit. Worth it? - Unholy_Goalie

Two prospects that won't be NHLers, so essentially just contracts. |

How mad will you be if the Leafs still lose in the playoffs and that 2nd round pick turns out to be an amazing player one day?
It's easy to play this game. - Unholy_Goalie
The Leafs have a pick in the second if they miss their guy there it is what it is. |

I wouldn't say the Leafs have that problem yet. Their best prospects are playing with the Leafs but the rest of the system could still use some more help. The Leafs don't have a #1 D sitting in the system. They have promising top 4 D but nobody that you can safely say "that guy is the next Shea Weber". They don't have prospects that they could trade for somebody like Karlson and not lose anybody significant off their roster. That's the type of surplus you want to have and can achieve by acquiring as many picks as possible and making every one count.
You make that big move when your players are in their prime, you're leading your division and you're playing a style of hockey that succeeds in the playoffs. All of those things will happen in a couple years but that's not the case right now. - Unholy_Goalie
You make an excellent point so we need to continue to draft and develop and grab a couple C prospects and look out for a bonfire Shea Weber type. I know what you mean with your concern about 2rounders giveaway for .01 return. Let’s see tomorrow by 3:10pm what goes down. You make excellent point we need to insulate what we have and continue to build. We still are in a good spot. Plekanec I can not comment on cuz I never followed him. What is asked in trades as a return now a days is absurd anyway. You work so hard to draft and develop and even sacrifice parts of a season to tank or lower your self to a better draft position on floor then boom you get stupid and throw 3 pieces away at once for a Nash as an example Let us see the ending this year. |

One former 1st round pick that they got for a piece they got in the Kessel deal. It was still something. |

So Montreal signed him to a deal next year but traded him this year to another team. Gothcha. Makes sense. |

Considering we might not of even made the playoffs last season if we didn't acquire him, yes. It was worth it. It got the kids much needed playoff experience. |

Maxime Comtois would look pretty good in the system right now. Or Jonah Gadjovich.
Or 27 games of Boyle... |

Okay, worse case scenario, they miss the playoffs last year. They still make it this year. Still get the experience. They're 20 years old. Nothing will happen to them if they don't make the playoffs immediately.
Makes no difference except for the prospect we missed out on to add a guy who played 27 games then left. |

Terrible GM with bad picks and bad player development. But the talent was right there, just waiting to be picked. Better off giving your scouts more picks than less picks, that's for sure. |
