It really is a catch-22 for this blog. If the right return isn't there, the Rangers won't trade him, and people will b*tch. If they trade him for a less than optimal return, people will b*tch.
My opinion, they do not need to trade McDonagh. They only should if they get a great deal. And that goes for several other players as well. - Pete V
Yup, my thoughts as well. No need to move him unless the return is solid. |

Sure, but if you believe Hartman and Stastny set a market here we should strike now. Those were massive overpayments. |

By the way... #Jets top 4 defenseman, Tobias Enstrom just left the morning skate with, what looks like, a bad injury. So the Jets add Stastny and lose Enstrom in the matter of minutes. - jimbo83

You are correct in both views.
On your first, we know here who will start the criticizing in either case of McDonagh going or staying.
On your second, I have maintained that view since his name was first rumored, since Gorton holds all the cards this time, as opposed to Grabner, and Nash, who in Nash's case, he hit a grand slam with. He also holds the cards over Yzerman this time around, as opposed to the Cally+/MSL+ trade a few seasons back. If Sergachev is the key the Rangers want included in a deal from Tampa for McDonagh, then Gorton should stand firm, and not deal McDonagh at all if he doesn't give in, or if Toronto or Florida do not make any offer.

If you compare him to Hartman, Grabs is definitely the better player right now. But Hartman is a younger player under contract control. He is a long-term piece, not just a rental.
But, the Grabner deal was the only one I wasn't thrilled with, because I did expect a it more to be honest.

Told there is a lot of activity on Ryan McDonagh. Obviously no guarantee, and Rangers could wait til the wire or stretch til Draft, but my understanding is McDonagh is basically in waiting mode. - jimbo83

Sens still talking to teams about Karlsson. Unless something changes, unlikely Hoffman or Smith go. Offers aren't good enough.

I think I'd have to agree with that.
Day-har-nay might even be able to fetch us a 7th rounder today! |

Yea but having a turd under contract control doesn’t change the fact that it’s still a turd |

I still think they like Rykov and a mid second round pick better than a late first rounder
they like Rykov a lot, that's the reason they did it |

I think so too.
I think JT Miller could definitely be in play today. I'm torn on it, because I really think that under a different coach he could be a really good player. |

Look at the market though.... If Ryan Hartman can net that imagine what JT could get. They should be heavily shopping everyone today. |
