The crazy thing, is after the big 2 they aren’t that talented. Some good pieces but nothing special.

Well, it’s got to be there. If it’s not, don’t force it.

if he isn't traded, I really wonder why the hell he wasn't part of the ceremony in street clothes representing the current Rangers as the captain last night

it isn't time to complain about it, but it will continue to irk me that that era from 1978-87 the "sassoon era" continues to get passed up when putting somebody up in the rafters

the Rangers from 1979-1986 accomplished just as much as the Rangers from 1969-75 but the only thing they do to honor them is make them broadcasters

- jimbro83

The three closest to deserving their uniform #'s to be raised to the rafters would likely be Don Maloney (LW) & Anders Hedberg (RW) for forwards, and James Patrick and Barry Beck as d'men, although Beck & Hedberg played here 7 seasons, while Don Maloney and James Patrick played 11 seasons here, with Patrick unfairly being criticized and mocked by Rangers fans at MSG, in worse ways than they would mock Dan Girardi here in recent years.
Barry Beck, the first player dealt by the Devils franchise when in their second of three locations in Colorado, had the help of the late, Rangers tv color commentator back then, in Bill Chadwick, urge him and announce during the games, "SHOOT THE PUCK BARRY ... SHOOT THE PUCK", because of his hard slap shot which he would not want to use all the time. The Rangers of today could use Bill Chadwick saying those first 3 words in most games.

The NHL has media deal in place with sportsnet. So last year the NHL network switched it's coverage from TSN to Sportsnet.
