Just facts. Kane is seven years younger, has more points this season, lower $ on the rest of Kane's contract than on Nash's, top-20 in goals scored for last 3 years, has not had a whiff of "trouble" in a year and a half.

Pedigree is for mastubators and sheepshaggers.

Not saying Garth isn't delusional (I mean, c'mon!) but I would wager that if Kane gets dealt to a playoff team that he scores more playoff ppg than Nash. Nash is already on the down-side of the hill.

Just facts. Kane is nowhere near the top 20 in goals scored for the last 3 years. He is 42. Actually tied with Matthews and JVR, both with less games played and way less minutes per game then Kane. Points over the 3 years, Kane is tied for spot 137, Tyler Bozak is at 122 spot, Bozak only playing 2 games more, but 3 minutes less a game.

But don't worry, Kane makes the top 10 in some categories. When it comes to forwards, with a +/- of -45 Kane is the 4th worst forward over the last 3 years. He is the 9th highest penalized forward. He is also 7th in shots, but has a worse shooting % then anyone around him. Only 1 guy ( Voracek) has a worse shooting % in the top 40, but Voracek also has almost 70 points more then Kane.

Also, he just had a fight with a teammate a couple weeks ago during practice, where he was being called a selfish fXXX.

Honestly, I'd want Kane on the Pens. He can be a douche all that he wants....Sid will just cup check him in practice and Hornquist, Letang and Geno can yell at him til he cries.....I mean, they scream at each other enough.

But, on Sid's wing, I can't think of too many better fits. He can keep up, he cycles well, he can finish (although streaky) he'll make room for Sid like Kunitz did, and he's not afraid to drop the gloves. It would be an amazing fit. Pens get tougher and incredibly deep.

That said, I would give up Sheary for cap purposes (and he's a good player....especially if he gets #1 power play time), Sprong, and a B level prospect like Blueger (although I think he will develop into a shutdown 3rd liner). Maybe throw in a mid pick or one of the hulking dmen the pens have been drafting. Botts retains 50% salary. There....4 pieces. The Pens get phenomenally deep and the Sabers get a couple of solid wingers.

I could see the Ducks and Sharks make offers like this too. So, it's just what Botterill likes best. But, it has to be a top team to even consider making this deal l...and those are the only ones that make sense.... Maybe Philly too.

The team he goes too has to have incredible leadership and a REAL shot at winning it all this year. Soooo. Pens, Sharks, Anaheim (flyers on the outside). I don't see anyone else that he could help as much as those.....and, I question Philly's leadership.

Couture, Vlasic and a 1st for Kane was pretty good to
- vols94

Yeah, that's pretty fantastic. Couture is already vastly better than Kane but San Jose is gonna have to include a 1st in order to get Kane. Insanity.

Garth’s corner has a secretary? And what exactly is a Garth’s corner.

I remember he said he’d take our Nylander for Girgensons last season but that Samson was off limits.

"No, Leafs fans. You will not be getting Samson Rienhart in the deal. Girgensons and a D prospect will be teh return".

And now this from Garp:

Josh Gorges and Justin Falk can earn Botterill a 3rd, prospect. Excellent value

By Cole standard, Antipin can fetch Sabres a 3rd, prospect

3 part time players on teh 30th place team in teh league that is desperate for D.

The main problem with Kane is his contract - not that he would not be good. He is a solid winger The players the Pens would have to move to take Kane (even if GMJB traded him in a favorable deal) would never make it worthwhile.

Now if his contract was $2-3M he would probably already be gone and Garth would have gotten some of the assets he is expecting.

You need to learn about the cap. Buffalo can keep 50% of Kane's cap hit. Which gets him down to 2.66 million cap hit. Pro rated means teams only need about 1 million of space to fit him in

Kane for five pieces? What? A stack of Benjamin's? A wet tracksuit? Courtside seats to the Raptors? What else?

I think GMJB over estimated that amount of buyers there would be today. It seems the bubble teams would rather trade their UFA for futures and just see how the season ends, then trade 1st round picks that might turn into lottery picks.

It also seems teams are putting a premium on playoff experience, and unfortunate for GMJB, Kane has none.
