Yes (top 10). If it doesn’t convey this draft, we get it next year unprotected with a 3rd included.
- Sublime55

Cool. Imagine if it's 11 this year? Haha

He's looking really shaky early, and Nashville has been on a goal scoring binge lately. That could be a tough combination today.

Yes. and if they exercise the protection, it becomes a 1st next year and a 3rd.. the following year? I'm not certain what year the 3rd is from.
- Doc_Sarcasm

They can only exercise the option if the pick is top 10. I'm going to be laughing my ass off if it ends up being 11th or 12th!

Apparenly I did a poor self-editing job when I posted. I meant to point out that it was Top 10 protected.

Looking at the standings, I really can't see more than 3 non playoff teams, at the most, finishing with better records than St. Louis, but you never know.

Though I'll be very happy if we end up with the 12th pick!

I still like schenn, but I wonder what the folks who still lament that trade will say if St. Louis misses the dance and we get a 1-3 seed? Kinda seem hexy knew what he was doing ?
- Hextall271

In that he made a deal that should be a long-term benefit to the Flyers, yes. Getting a higher pick out of a poor St. Louis season is just gravy.

Mark Alt on waivers. Can be assigned to Phantoms tomorrow to make him playoff eligible. Perhaps will stay with Phantoms but not required.

Goalie John Muse has played his way into an NHL contract it appears as well. Good for him.

They are saying other young players like lindblom and hagg might get on paper sent down as well for playoff eligibility

I've been a consistent critic of Hakstol's personnel choices but he nailed it with this current lineup. I'm realistically hoping for these top 2 lines to stay intact for the next few years.

When Simmonds comes back we'll have Simmonds-Laughton-Raffl
Next year we'll have Simmonds-Frost-Raffl
2019 we could have Simmonds-Rubstov-Frost for a THIRD line

Add in Morin, Sanheim, and Hart......That's a Cup contender

If hexy makes a couple of little tweaks then we come in top 3, win a round of playoffs, I'd say we're right on course to start contending in 2 years. That's pretty amazing to me

Schenn’s a good hockey player and the Flyers got some pretty good assets back for him...no one can be really sure who won until the Flyers side of the deal develops. I think the Patrick draft pick made him expendable.
- landros 2

I actually believe players like Jordan Weal made Schenn expendable. Banking on the development of Konecny. The Filppula deal.

I don't know how these players make Schenn expendable but this is just me. I felt we were a much deeper team when we had talent on all three lines. Richards, Carter, Briere, Hartnell, Giroux, Gagne, Leino.

Nashville is playing some scary hockey lately. I'm glad they're in the other conference.
