It would be out of character for Hextall to make a big deal at this juncture, regardless of whether or not they are ahead of schedule.

A couple of years down the road and they are close, you could say making a big move that you think could put you over the top.

I don't think this Flyers team is quite there in a position to benefit from that sort of move.

Even the acquisition of Mrazek made sense within the framework of Hextall's philosophy....Mrazek is still young and even better, they aren't really tied to him if he doesn't perform.

Would you think Hexy would cash a chip like Myers/Sanheim if hjalmarsson is the name coming back and they take weise’s contract? He’s 30...still some tread and resigning him wouldn’t be cost prohibitive.

I don’t think I’d do it...but make no mistake who our 2 pp qbs appear to be now and the future. Ghost/Provorov for a long time.

No intentions of recalling Sanheim it appears

I was just going to ask that. I'm ok with adding a defender, but I would also let sanheim come up at the end of the season and if he plays as well as he is in the a, keep him around.

They'll be a minor move I'm sure, but why mess with a team who has been the best in the Metropolitan since early December?

G said after yesterday's game how much fun the team was having. Why mess with the chemistry?

I only expect a mid round pick moved for a forward with OK ability. Maybe a defenseman.

These are good questions. Problem I have with flipping sanheim is do we want to send him out before knowing what he can bring to the table? And if so, he's a young talented dman with major upside, and those are the highest value pieces in the nhl today. I'm not sure you send him out for an again dman. I'd want a young solid forward for him tbh. That's what we need.

If he does, Hextall should be fired. Way too much is made of needing to get rid of Weise's contract. Hjalmarsson is a nice player but he is not worth either Sanheim or Myers.

PP has nothing to do with it. It's about 5 on 5 hockey.

Hexy should have to pass a blood test and then head to rehab for a year if he traded either of them for Hjalmarsson.

I'm not saying I want Bobby Ryan as much as I'm saying that I would like to see a move for improvement. Are we a good team? Yes. Can we keep this kind of play up for years to come? Maybe. We traded Schenn. Simmonds' future with the team is up in the air. The big line of Couturier, Giroux and Konecny has been fun to watch this year but a guy like Jake Voracek for example leaves me so frustrated. It doesn't matter to me that he leads the league in assists. He passed up a shot on a breakaway yesterday.
- SuperSchennBros

Did you actually watch the break away? I keep reading a few folks here saying he passed up a shot and that isn't what happened at all..

He tried to make a move an Anderson didnt bite so rather than just slam it into, his pads he tried to loop around and find a pass..

I just don't see that as passing up a shot..

Agreed. From everything we’ve seen during his tenure, it doesn’t appear Hextall will do anything big around the deadline either.

Prob steep for him. Morin wouldn’t be I think.

I don’t know how you can keep Sanheim off the pp or Provorov. I don’t see why both can’t be on the 2nd unit in time but the trend is having 4 forwards with one d. They don’t have to do anything, but going forward they wouldn’t be getting the best ou of Sanheim if he’s not on it

Voracek had the opportunity to shoot the puck. He was indecisive and when he started the deak he was too deep and ran out of room. Really poorly played by Voracek in my opinion.

Of course they can go with two defenseman on the 2nd unit. Why not? Morin is also a no go. No way.

I think I would rather go with Alt, Morin, Sanheim, and Myers as potential D replacements in the playoffs than give up anything of significance to get a rental D. Of course, I'm not looking at this team making a serious run right now. Perhaps I'll feel differently about our chances in the playoffs a month from now.

That is different then the "passed up a shot " line though..

I agree with how you describe the play but it waant like he was looking to pass on a break away

I was saying this yesterday and going to say it again.

Giroux reminds me of G from 5 years ago. The play in the Habs game where he dropped thr puck into his skates then in stride kicked it forward. The ridiculous break away yesterday. Watching how fired up he is almost every play. Dominating on face offs and a plus 15 , I think I saw that last night.

Just an amazing year by G.

Amazing what being healthy and able to fully skate can do for a player

I would be very angry if they trade any D prospects right now. If those guys turn into players they are worth way more then veteran rentals at the trade deadline. Taylor Hall deal example #1.

Sympathy for Jordan Staal and family. I heard their infant daughter died. Awful.

I think he did pass up an opportunity to take a shot. Before he started the deak with a defenseman bearing down on him he should've shot the puck. His deak took him past the net. That's how tight he got.

I am not moving any of them for Hjalmarsson. If I move a dman its for a top 6 forward under 23-24.

And Sanheim will be a better pp qb than Provy.

I'm not saying that idea is unreasonable but I wouldn't do it for a forward unless it was a top established forward. Defenseman and the development of them is just too important to this team's future.
