I have a feeling that if Hextall makes a trade that the he gets someone with term or a RFA that they can insert into the lineup next year. Just my feeling. Not sure he gets a pure rental.
Would he part with a 2019 2nd rounder in some sort of deal to get Domi or maybe Ryan Hartmen in Chicago? Both guys are young vets so they could fit with this team moving forward.
Just talking out loud. |

Eklund mentioning Benoit Pouliot.
What is his story? 4th OVERALL pick in 2005.
Looking at his stats I would say he has been somewhat of a career bust.
Also, I am not really sure Johnny Oduya is any kind of improvement over Brandon Manning.

An argument can be made right now that Gostisbehere is the Flyers best defenseman over Provorov. That's how good of a year Gostisbehere is having and how well his all around game has developed. - MJL
Totally agree.
I guess Hakstol new what he was doing in trying to get more out of Gostisbehere. I also kind of think his great play has helped in his offensive play as once he breaks up a play defensively they are transitioning quickly to offense |

Using recent history as the measuring stick I can see that argument. Provorov has had a couple off games lately. Full season I give it to Provorov but Gostisbehere is easily second best. |

Lindblom played like this from the 2nd month of the season on. Anyone with eyes and a brain that has watched him knows he was NHL ready long ago. Don't BS all over the place talking like the Flyers painted this development masterpiece. Simmonds gets injured and he is suddenly ready! There was plenty of ice time available in the NHL for him. They played Simmonds ineffectively on his off wing before trying Lindbomb
Hextall wants to be cautious. At least he is sticking to his plan. You cannot tell me he is now going to become a better player than he was if they called him up 3 months ago. You cannot tell me he couldn't "transition to a smaller rink" while playing in a league he was good enough for. I am okay with what Hextall is doing, but I don't think it is the best. Just unnecessarily cautious in many ways. I will take what he is doing 10 times out of 10 over someone that drafts poopty players though. He has done an incredible job in the draft. Drafting good players is the best way to develop good players - YuenglingJagr
You cannot tell anyone that he hasn't become a better player by going to the AHL. I think it's pretty clear he has. The Flyers have done a strong job developing young players and their approach is clearly working.

Just watched a youtube video where Pouliot is considered the biggest draft bust of the Penguins. |

He falls into that odd overrated and underrated at the same time category for me. Kind of like Stempniak, Versteeg, etc. He has a pretty good shot. Would he be an improvement? I mean obviously over Lehtera. His best days are certainly behind him. I wouldn't give up much for him, but he is the type of guy that if Hextall/Hakstol felt there was a chemistry fit it could be good. Not many players look good on the Sabres, so it is tough to tell what he still is.
Agree on Oduya |

He kinda reminds me of a poor man's Ales Hemsky/Olli Jokinen. He'll put up some decent numbers, but I won't count of him with the game on the line. He's the type of guy that may score you a huge goal in the playoffs, but not someone you want to burden at all. |

I remember watching the playoffs in 2014 when he was on the Rangers team that made that run and just loving watching him play and his style. Said to myself that I'd love to have a guy like him on the Flyers. He got a big contract with the Oilers after that season, and I believe Buffalo just has part of his contract because his cap hit there is only like $1 mil for the rest of this year.
Not sure what his ceiling was projected to be, and obviously he was a high draft pick, but from what I've seen from him, he's a fast, feisty, hard working player that fits nicely on a team's middle 6. Would not hate having him on the Flyers, just not sure if it's worth the price he might fetch/him being a UFA at the end of the year.

Ah, thanks for that clarification. Not sure if that signifies that he wasn't worth the money in EDM or if they just had cap issues. Granted him only getting $1 from Buffalo could also tell the story of what he is now.. hmm. |

I wouldn't say it is elite. Gostisbehere had elite offensive game. Sanheim has a solid offensive game but i think he needs to be more well rounded as he just isn't as dynamic offensively as Gostisbehere.
I see Sanheim more of a McDougnah type. - J35Bacher
Sanheim's offensive IQ are on par with Ghost's. He does things differently, but the end product is the same. He's like a roamer, he can free wheel. If he's put on the 1pp in 2 years along w/ Ghost, which he should, he will be putting up big numbers as well. I feel he's better offensively than McDonagh.
I could be wrong, but I feel pretty strongly about this. |
