I could see a dpth defensman and/or a depth forward. I think both guys would be PK type players. I wouldn't mind a forward like Zack Smith or Tommy Wingles. Maybe Ian Cole on the back end or some else that's in that realm

I like Zack Smith, and without his contract, I would take him all day long, but he's got a pretty decent cap hit for a role player, which is what he would be on this team in my opinion. I think it would take a bit more to get him, too, because he has 3 more years on his deal.

But, if you did it, you could slide VF to wing, which I believe he would be more effective.

Now he’s moved on to irritate others... as far as your idea around Karlsson, I think the price would be extravagant... as Hextall continues to build a vast stable of assets, this is the type of deal the Flyers may be involved in in a couple of years. Not sure it’s the right time.... but we are talking one of the best hockey players on the planet.

Now he’s moved on to irritate others... as far as your idea around Karlsson, I think the price would be extravagant... as Hextall continues to build a vast stable of assets, this is the type of deal the Flyers may be involved in in a couple of years. Not sure it’s the right time.... but we are talking one of the best hockey players on the planet.

I was thinking more a swap. Since they are looking to shed salary you could swap Smith and Weise, who has a year less and lower cap hit, and maybe a low level pick. I don't Smith will get a ton. 2019 4th rounder? Maybe a player like Taylor Leier? I like Smith because he has decent size, plays with and edge, has some skill and can kill penalties. Seems like a perfect guy for the playoffs.

Here's the thing. They might not have to. they have a legit number one guy in Provorov and the maturation in Gostisbehere's game has been incredible. I don't think they need Karlsson. The way Gostisbehere's game has improved, all around, his contract could be a steal. Especially if he gets some Noris chatter, which I think he should this year.
