Filpulla. I don’t care what the fancy community thinks. He’s been a useful piece for the team. Obviously he won’t be kept for next year but he’s met my expectations when the trade went down
- Just5

He’s been ok....looks to be getting a little bit slower. Kinda running on fumes as he nears the end. I actually liked his game at the end of last year a bit better. His best days are far behind now but he’s a skilled guy that may have the odd big goal left in him.

He played like 10 mins max against Ottawa and his ice time has been declining steadily as the season has progressed. I personally feel like he is the best 4th line center in the division for what he brings and the fact that he can move up easily if there was an injury. Super underrated
- FreshFlyer

I feel part of it is his wingmates. He doesn't have a thing to work with there and it shows. There was a play against Ottawa where he was on a rush in the Ottawa zone and he passed it off and Lethera just butchered it. You saw on Flip face how frustrated Flip had gotten over the season. I'm not saying he deserved top 6 minutes, but I'm a little easier on him because of the situation he's in.

Filppula gets poop on and called bad a lot because he plays minutes he just can't play anymore and gets exposed. If he truly was relegated to "4th line duties" and the pk he wouldn't nearly get burned so much and would be much less noticeable (i.e. noticeably bad) out there.

8-12 ES minutes + pk is what he should be getting at this point in his career. Hak seems to have a bit of a love affair with him, which plays into his TOI being too high for a player of his caliber but they've also had injuries and a struggling Patrick/no Lindblom to slot in either. We'll see what his TOI looks like in these next few games and especially when Simmonds comes back (implying Lindblom stays up)

- Giroux_Is_God

I don't think anyone would argue he's one of the top 12 forwards on this team, but in my mind his ideal position would be to play wing on either a 3rd or 4th line. He can still take draws, but the he's in over his head at the center position, imo. I get it that he's the best option for that line, and there isn't an in-house upgrade to him.

I don’t hate Weise because he’s a crappy player, I hate him because he just goes through the motions and plays like he doesn’t give a (frank)

Lehterä is slow, but he’s giving it all he’s got. Filppula has lost a step, but he leaves it all on the ice. Manning plays like a warrior and tries as hard as he can, he just lacks talent and hockey sense.

But Weise, he plays with no passion, no heart. He’s basically Alexander Daigle minus the speed and natural talent. It makes me sick that the Flyers are paying this gonad lacking pile of steaming monkey crap millions of dollars to not even bother to show some real (frank)ing effort.

(frank) Dale Weise and (frank) anyone who would stoop low enough to defend him.

As a true 4C, he’s fine. Both he and Laughton would be great at the 4C spot, but neither really has the total package needed to be a good 3C.

They are so close.

You can see it. They aren't perfect, but you can freaking see the finish line

My opinion: You don't really need to do anything crazy for a scoring forward right now. If someone gets hurt, it's a tough break, but it happens. No team is perfect. Injuries happen.

But would I do Sanheim, Myers, the STL first and our 2019 first for Erik Karlsson? And consider TK if I thought I could get by?

Maybe I would

Will say, Weise could be dealing with some sort of mental stuff.

Dude just seems off.

I think there are still big holes imo. The goaltending still let’s in questionable goals at times, and as great as Elliot has been - we have also seen him be not so great in his career.

I am not sold on Laughton being a 3C for a cup winner, and I think that fourth line eventually starts to burn you against better clubs.

As well, I think the D needs more talent. Get Morin and Sanheim (or Myers) in there with a couple of years of NHL experience and I think they can make a true run.

This year to me is just a bonus really. The big question still lies in whether G can still be a powerhouse once the kids are ready on the back end. That’s what it was always about in my eyes.

On behalf of Cherry Hill, I request Bobby Ryan only be in the area during the offseason.
- five4fighting10

Yeah, we don't need that criminal element that comes with him messing up the area.

I agree. Weise was brought in because they felt he could provide a physical presence to get in on the forecheck and pressure defenseman and take the body and play along the wall well. Weise has regressed from even last year. So it's either an injury or some kind of physical issue, which I doubt because this has been going on for two seasons now. So it then becomes a sharp decline for a marginal player to begin with or he just isn't into it any more. I agree there is no energy or passion in his game

I think Laughton would be fine, with good support. Ideally, Raffl would be with him, i think

The fourth line...basically unplayable in the playoffs. We all know that. Spot minutes here and there, try to survive those shifts

Are they flawed. Yes. They are. But honestly, they all are. Boston and Tampa have advantages in areas. Pittsburgh has high-end talent and role players who fit what they do.

The question is do you believe, if you add talent, that your 23 can beat their 23 over seven games?

I think...the Flyers are close enough to where you can make the argument. You don't have to do anything. Can always let it ride

But right now, you have two of the top five scorers in the league, a 50-point defenseman and a 40-point defenseman. It might not get better than that, though we all hope it will

I think Laughton can be that 3C on maybe a cup winner, but I do need to see a bit more. Its the first year he's shown this kind of sustained play. Hopefully keeps it up and it isn't some Dale Weise in Montreal thing.
