I don’t think you will see Kovie or any Russian player in a Jet uniform in the foreseeable future. Something about Winnipeg and Russian players that just doesn’t click.

Kovie is a discussion for the sake of a discussion but in terms of a Russian in a Jets uni anytime soon, well, we have Kulikov now and apparently the Jets are looking at Antipin (LD) from Buffalo right now as a depth D and reclamation project after Buffalo has completly mismanaged the guy this year. Apparently Maurice has some experience with him from the KHL. Also, we have the Russian kid Berdin in net in Sioux Falls that is quietly doing ok.

The price for guys like Nash has been too high. I mean Nash is not some holy grail. I cant remember the last time he scored 40 points in a season. Bruins gave up way too much more him. If thats the price for Plekanek then forget it. I wonder who is looking at pending UFA Henrik Sedin. He would also be a nice center on the third line to set up Laine and I could see him fitting well with Ehlers. Only problem is he doesn't fit the big and physical mold Chevy might be looking for.

Plekanek is ancient as well. Yes he has good defensive capabilities and PK specialist but there is a downward trend with him. Mind you, he is a depth defensive forward but I can't imagine anything but a very late pick for him like a 6th or 7th round. Wpg got a conditonal 6th for Stafford, what would you pay for Plekanek? 6th, 7th?

There was a rumour Habs wanted our first for plekanec and their 2nd, not horrible. Really only means we would be moving down ten spots in the draft for him. Having two second rounders would still make the draft entertaining to watch

I guess that's not too unreasonable if that is what they were willing to part with Plakenac for.

The Henrik Sedin floater is interesting. Ok, put everyhting aside, you know he is not big heavy guy, etc, could he play without his brother being there? I mean they do everyhting in unison, could they even play hockey without the other brother being on the team?

Tell that to Zhamnov and Khabibulin. Both fit amazingly when I was a kid.

The Jets should trade for Hjalmarrson. Would be a great insurance piece and an upgrade over Enstrom.

Do you not hear Maurice praising enstrom? Can you not see how well him and buff are playing? Let it go

Agreed . Enstrom has played well of late. I did wince when he got creamed into the boards last night though. Bounced right back up though and he wasn't the only Jet last night that got pasted into the boards.

It was in one of Jetnations posts, it was just a floater I think.

On another note, Enstrom is jelling quite well with Buf right now. His brain is good and if his body can hold up, then he is ok. Hopefully we do not see a west coast team in a first playoff round, because that would be beneficial for playing Enstrom.

Hopefully those west coast teams can play eachother and Vegas in first and second rounds and beat the hell out of eachother. I am thinking that would be the best case scenario for the Jets, post season.
