It's been said before many times. Changing the coach without changing the roster will amount to nothing and here we are. No shock.

I think Horvat getting injured spelled the end of any wild card aspirations. It was another one of those, if everything goes right who knows what could be.

It would be better if we had a season where everyone was mostly healthy and we sucked. less coulda, woulda, shoulda, everyone is available.

- hillbillydeluxe

All true bro

Look to the Leafs last year & scott free of big injuries. AM is getting nicked up often now & should become a concern. Not many teams survive key injuries. Habs sunk like the Mafia shackled on cement boots when Price was injured. TBL missed the PO’s when Stamkos went down.

If everything has to be perfect to be on the bubble you should rethink your strategy...
- 1970vintage

I'm hoping a big part of the strategy is draft and develop regardless of where we finish from year to year.

The club wanted to retool more than rebuild. didn't work so well.

now we are going to have 1/3 of the league rebuilding or retooling, everyone is doing it, we will have to see how many of these teams win the cup.

I agree partially.
Waiting by the phones? Source
As for genetating interest nobody knows what goes on behind the scenes. Personally i prefer a GM who plays his cards close to the vest & not succumb to traces for ghe sake if trading. It takes a few years to settle into being a new GM IMO.

That all said my take on JB’s reign

Inherited a mess of NMC’s & NTC’s.
Kesler screwed us.
JB made trades to fill the age gap & it was mediocre at best.
Bis drafting has been good & it takes many years to see the fruit of success or not.
Shorter contract signings & no NTC’s.

All in all its not the TITANIC 😂😂

Again, none of us are privy to the inner workings but Benning himself has stated countless times that he's "listening to offers".

Anyone in the world with a modicum of sales experiences knows that's not how you close a sale.

I’m generally optimistic 👍👍
It goes beyond one game or a season.
The pessimists blind themselves & quick to go full retard at the drop of a hat. They have been around forever just the names change. Its Vancouver perennial problem as far as fans go & mostly media driven.
A lemmingfest if you will 😂😂😂😂😂😂

I am also an optimist, but I don’t believe in rewarding continual failure. I don’t believe James Elmer Benning has lived up to the “promises” he made. Perhaps his conversations with ownership are very different then his conversations with the fan base, but this team hasn’t really gotten any younger - there are some young players, but also other (different) older players; they aren’t “remaining competitive” - bottom 5 finish 4 out of 5 years and they don’t really have a lot of high end talent in the pipeline save a few nice pieces - which literally every other team in the league also has.

True but is it a hard sell or a soft sell?
Trading is fluid & takes 2 to tango.
The market is finite & can change in a moment but yes to be shrewd & close deals is an art & i guess we will see how he does soon enough.

That is a good summary of his tenure.
We gotta believe he was mandated from above the initial course but changed gears once we sucked. Therefore FA gave in to the obvious & lets JB do what he must. It cost us 2yrs but thats water under the bridge now & its time to forge ahead.

Comparing Thomas Vanek and Rick Nash, and tonight's game against the Coyotes is an important one!

Nighthawk my friend you need to stop talking in adages. Life is not a box of chocolates and nobody gives a flying fuk on how many it takes to Tango.

You are a regular contributor on he and do stick up for your team but can you please keep it to talking normal ?

It’s amazing that some of you don’t think Benning is trying to make trades. You can’t force a team to want our scraps. I’m pumped for tomorrow
