Turris is a second line center . Why pay him 6 mil for 6-8 years When you don't have a first round center? Duchene is a two year contract.

Karlsonn will want 10-12 mil next year and Ottawa can not afford that so move him for value while he has term.

What I do think is Ottawa are cleaning house and dumping contracts. They will suck for a while and Melnky will either sell or relocate. Don't forget this team struggles getting fans to playoff games. Ownership does not look like they want long term investment in Ottawa

The team was good last year, so they trade their top young center to buy one extra year of cost certainty at the cost of a first round pick and posing off the top defencemen in the game. The reason they duck this year is because management has jerked them off to muck and now their d!cks are sore and they need a break.
