I wonder if it will be vegas. Before the ryan news dropped id have said no but... - david22
I really don't get why people have written off Vegas in terms of the Karlsson trade rumours... if they base a deal on something like Shea Theodore, Cody Glass, and a couple of 1st round picks (maybe one conditional on him re-signing), that would be just as comparable as anything the Lightning would realistically be giving up. Similarly, I could see San Jose offering something around some combination of Timo Meier, Jeremy Roy, Josh Norris, and high picks.
The expectation to include Ryan is ludicrous, though... and I'm not even sure what it really accomplishes, other than obstruct getting a premium return for Karlsson, which should be the unquestionable priority if they're trading a player of that magnitude.

It's not an expectation, it's just what's being reported. If you need to include Ryan in a deal just shows the move is more monetary than a hockey move. I've said it before, moving Karlsson means we automatically lose any trade so adding Ryan which will cost you potentially a late 1st and middling prospect is meh to me. Damage is already done.
If teams are serious for Karlsson though, you have to think they'd like to have 2 shots at the Cup with him under his current deal rather than 1. Will be an interesting couple of days. |

Adding ryan also severely limits the teams that can fit him in.
Adding 6.5 is very doable, even moreso if you send pieces back. |

Ya. For sure. I think that's where the 3-way comes in I think. |

We're so close to Dahlin lol. Gonna need him to replace Karlsson apparently. |

That's why the whole situation is a lose lose. Fans will never forgive EM and PD for letting Karlsson go |

If you had to make a bet on who could. Dahlin would be the best one at least. |

The problem is the unknown. Karlsson was never brought in as the best D in the world, he just happened to become that.
Dahlin could be a bust, no one knows. That's why if you are trading Karlsson you need to get a star in return who is proven and building blocks or the future. |

I remember when Larsson was pumped up as the next big D. more like douchebag. It took Hedman a few years to finally live up to his billing. |

Still think calls this close getting called back are silly. |

Neither has done what Dahlin has done at the same age. Almost no defensive prospect has. But defenders are always hard to figure out. Ekblad got two concussions in one year and went from the next Doughty to a fringe top-pairing guy in the span of one season out of the blue.

To me, it's a done deal now. Way too much garbage being thrown around for him to stay. He may not get traded by Monday, but will be by the summer, unless something drastically changes. This seems a lot like the Spezza trade stuff where he probably shouldn't have been traded, but there was a point of no return with negotiations and rumours.
I hope they can at least make it a hockey trade rather than budget move/just want to move on ASAP move. - Gord_Wilson_2.0
They are negotiating from a point of weakness... but rest assured they will get a good return
While I waiver back and forth on this, I think Sens fans should not be too upset to see him traded. It really is time to rebuild. Phaneuf and Brassard out, maybe Ek and Ryan... Stick with Stone and Hoffman, chabot to anchor your D for years to come and hopefully you restock some prospects and picks from the EK deal. |

What defenseman, in the last 10 drafts has come close to Karlsson?
I'm not saying Dahlin can't be Karlsson but I feel like him being Swedish adds to the comparison...they said he's Karlsson and lidstrom combined :p

I've heard him called the best defensive prospect since Potvin. That's alot of pressure. |

I think in the summer, it could be from a position of strength. He really has to make it a point to include as many teams as possible and get the best return....
that said, I feel like this 1 trade would make me such an enemy to Melnyk. I couldn't watch the team but something would need to be done |

What's the point of drafting Dahlin if your going to have a cheap @$$ owner ship him out when he needs big $ |

He’s going to hike up the prices for Leafs and Habs sell out games, and use that to get by with a league minimum roster.
Book it. - Feeling Glucky?
and with the leafs being an elite team they'd probably fill the arena with leaf fans. at double the normal price that may be just enough revenue to keep melnyk going. |
