It better be a D that's around the same age then if they do that.

Only makes sense if they could flip Sheahan for a 6D upgrade, then bring in Cullen to fill the 4C hole.
- hardnosed

They could just bring in Cullen to play wing and ok in the spot people are putting Rowney. Also gives them a better backup center and lockerroom leader. Still worth it to get Cullen, like it better because he doesn't have to be the main 4C option.

Moving Sheahan would be an epic mistake IMO. We at least know that if Brassard gets injured, Sheahan can step in. Cullen? Not so much.

But, if they are going to move Sheahan I'd be looking to do a series of moves and explore other options than Cullen. I'd try to find a way to bring Derek Ryan + TVR to the Pens from CAR.

Hmmm... so we taking bets on what a final trade would be if JR makes one?

I'd say Sheary or Horny for a mid pairing Dman in a 'hockey' trade. I say that ZAR showed he can do what Horny does good enough for the future, and I don't want him resigned after this season. If we are in the business of moving out UFA, he is the only one left. Also was that rumor (was it on here or in a real article?) that Sid hates playing with him I saw a week or so ago.

For Sheary... I'd like to keep him, but they have been moving him up and down the lines a bit too much this year, might be a reason they make him the trade bait for a D upgrade.

I can't see any situation where Horn gets moved.

I couldn't see any situation to get Brassard for 3 mil and get rid of Reeves in the same hour... or us getting rid of Scuderi for an upgrade without giving away a big prospect/pick.

Sheahan could also play LW. I wonder if they want to switch him to wing and trade for Cullen to be our 4th line winger.

Unless Kane comes over, I just don't think Horn gets moved.

Hornqvist I'd put at 99% not getting traded haha Rutherford loves him

Hornie is a favorite of Sully, he won't be traded. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Sheary goes.

I don't see Sheahan being moved at all.

I like our forward groups and would like to see them add a defenseman now.

Pretty sure ol' Palmer left here for Facebook, so he could become the voice of reason.

I highly doubt Sheahan is on the block. I makes very little sense to me. The Cullen thing needs to die......we have no need for him now. I'd see if I could find a cheap depth defensman on an expiring contract for Sheary and free up his contract. Maybe get a pick back too. With players like ZAR and Sprong we don't need Sheary either.

Sheary is marrying his niece. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s gone either, but your logic doesn’t follow. Sheary is practically family.

Oh MS's niece! I thought he was marrying his own niece! (then he is truly keeping things "in the family")

I don’t even know who’s available. There aren’t any good rentals as far as “depth” moves go.
- Rinosaur

Who knows. Hjalmarsson could be available for the right price. A Kane for Sheary swap makes a ton of sense. Kane is an effective penalty killer (at least when I’ve seen him) and is obviously a huge threat 5v5. Sounds like there hasn’t been much interest and Rutherford has had success with outcasts in the past

Yeah he won't get traded but he won't resign. he will have 2-3 cups at the end of his deal, some team will pay him big and he should move on.

Just got done watching the Pens/Cands game. Hunwick was not good in the first two periods and was fine in the third. He looks like an old school d man. He boxes out just fine and sticks to his assignment but he doesn’t move the puck well at all. He does a decent job holding the offensive blue line. I think a depth defender needs to be on the wishlist if we’re really going all in rn

Here is a what if....

If there are rumours out there about Cullen still....perhaps Brassard will play on the first line with Crosby and the third line will stay as is due to the three playing very well together. Cullen would take over centre on 4th line? That is one of the possibilities if there is some merit to the Cullen rumours still. Load up on centres that can play wing also....Things can always be changed as we see Sully loves to do, so if the third line needs adjusting Brassard can play on it....so many options when you have the talent this team has, its endless.
