To avoid even more bad PR, I would suggest the captaincy should be dealt with in the off-season and it should be Hank offering it to Guddy.

I've been steadily moving towards the "The Canucks Management Are Incompetent" bandwagon over the past month from the more moderate "Some Pros, Some Cons" camp, but everyone jumping on the NYR & OTT 'rebuilds' are pretty big knee-jerk reactions. We've beaten this horse over and over, but there's no one proper way to rebuild a team. Toronto seems to be working, but Edmonton and Arizona are still terrible, Winnipeg may be taking a turn but they've yet to win a playoff game, Buffalo should be relegated...

They're selling off some assets, sweet – we should be doing the same, but that in no way means their rebuild is a guaranteed success, and ours a guaranteed failure.

Reading between the lines of McPhee’s words and even Gallant’s, it's clear that trade was as much about blocking Brassard to WPG as it was acquiring another pick + Reaves.

Those teams have accomplished NOTHING yet - and suddenly they're the envy around town? just bcus we stood pat so far, doesn't mean we're doing it wrong. NYR have no one other than Anderson and Chytil in the tube - its bare, OTT just got rid of Dahlen/ Bowers and a boat load of picks for Duchene.

Everyone is laughing at Ottawa but they cleared Phanuef traded Brassard for a first plus , will get multiple and prospects for Karlsson. They will have a fresh start with multiple picks and a few good prospects. Lets see who is laughing in three years or so

Considering that they are missing their own draft picks for a few years.... while they are bottoming out, i think that we'll be laughing at their leaf/ kessel type trade for Duchane.
