I think this puts you over to top in your division. May force another teams hand.

Tampa still seems to be the team to beat (in the east )

Damn you guys are going to have a good team.

Is this the deepest you've ever been at center, including when Staal was there?

Deepest and most versatile of the Crosby/Malkin era.

Tampa needs to add a piece on D. The depth there will get exposed in a 7 game series. Green or Karlsson gets added there imo.

IIRC Gus was ranked the #1 European goalie prospect when he was drafted. If I'm wrong someone can correct me.

I don’t think his head can fit ina helmet anymore. Have you seen the size of his noggin? My guess is HGH

Most likely even though the Brassard trade suggests to me that the Sens are not asking for the moon on these trades.

Seeing several tweets that there is more to this trade than has been reported and it "is complex". The NHL has not approved the trade as of yet.

Pens made off like bandits. People are too attached to Cole. And Gus is years away. (frank) em.
- j.boyd919

I go off-line for an hour and a half and miss the deal I've been waiting for.

Agree, the 1st and Gustavsson are years away from helping. We swapped Cole for Brassard on our roster. Love Cole but he was #6 on the depth chart. Think Hunwick is a little better on the left which is where he'll play now so that helps.

I do wish we kept Cole, but thrilled to get Brassard without losing Sprong!

Brassard (traded to Pittsburgh) is a top-line centre by most measures. Underwhelming on the powerplay, excellent shot and goal results at 5v5.

I blacked out there for the last hour. Awesome trade.

Now send our 2nd rd pick to Ottawa for Cole with 50% retention? lol

With Brassard there, I think we can finally comfortably move G back up to Crosby and the Kessel line will have plenty of skill to rock and roll. I want

Simon-Crosby-Guentzel
Hagelin-Malkin-Hornqvist
Rust-Brassard-Kessel
Aston Reese-Sheahan-Sheary

Rust and Simon are interchangeable depending on chemistry.

- Victoro311

That's what I was thinking. Brassard-Kessel creates enough of a stacked line they can give Sid Guentzel back. We certainly have a ton of candidates for the 3rd spot.
