Sheahan = small raise
Simon = nothing significant
Jarry = already signed
Rust will get 2.75-3 million and thats it - TheGame316
Oleksiak is an RFA as well. |
|
|

It's not even a lot to give up. They gave up a goalie that's 4th on the depth chart, a UFA 4-6 defender, and a later first round pick for a guy better than Nick Bonino. - j.boyd919
Doesn't Cole have like 10 pts in his last 12 games or something like that? He's been huge on our recent run and has played a big part in both of our cups. I see this as a large hole that needs to be filled |

Id give a late pick to give the kid a fresh start like they did with oleksiak. Maybe you want hunwick instead? - Jordy8

Damn you guys are going to have a good team.
Is this the deepest you've ever been at center, including when Staal was there? |

There will be younger options in the offseason who are just as good as Hornqvist and will command around the same cap hit. If JR's smart, he's not married to a Hornqvist extension and will explore all options. - Victoro311
Better younger options on the ice I definitely agree. But, off the ice I'm not so sure. Like I said the coach and Gm love Horny, I agree 6-7 years is madness, but 5? Depending on the AAV? I would move Sheary and Hunwick to keep him

I remember when the Pens first announced JR would be the GM and how so many people jumped the gun saying this team is done - Rinosaur
I remember reading a lot of opinions as such also, that is why you don't "listen" to all the arm-chair Gms....(including ourselves sometimes)...Jimmy and this organization are en fuego....this is going to be a fun stretch of 21 games. |

The only comparable of recent memory I think back to is 2009's
Sid, Geno, Staal and Kennedy/Talbot
2011: Sid, Geno, Staal, Letestu/Kennedy (spent more time at wing this season I believe) |

Hey. Stop throwing away Cole like he's a slice of meat
But obviously you move Cole over Sheary, I just didn't think Ottawa would value Brassard at a 1st, Gus, and cap dump. Thought it would take Sheary's value. - Victoro311
I feel like you're like Helga from Hey Arnold! You've got statues made out of green and white gum of Rust and Cole in your closet that makes your privates tingle when you slide open the door.

Can you guys shed any light on the goalie prospect included?

Goalie is a decent prospect. These dudes are hyping him up like crazy.
Cole is a standard 3rd pair D. Should be able to flip him for between a 2nd-4th |

GMJR said Gus was the goalie that he most got asked for in a recent interview when it came to trades, and he recently said he had no intentions on moving him.
Cole for sure can be traded for picks. 2-time stanley cup winning (because GMs value this.) rental defenseman for sure. |

Wasn't he voted best goalie at the world juniors? I watched some of those games and he was great. Cole might get you a 3rd I would imagine. |

Retaining Hornqvist seams even more unlikely now unless the Pens move Sheary and/ or Hags in the offseason... Or unless the Pens are willing to give him an Oshie like deal of 5-7 years for less AAV. I don't see it happening but GMJR and Sullivan love Horny. Will be interesting. - Brianandr1
If the cap ceiling goes up by the crazy number people are talking about, then every team gets to throw a crazy number at their favorite UFA. |

solid fundamentals. good for swe internationally. low on depth chart here - quite a few bodies above him. maybe1-2 yrs before you can project if he will be nhl regular
And is Cole tradable for picks you think? - david22
