Dude that deal is (frank)ing awesome for the Pens.
- j.boyd919

I agree....those saying it is too much....Jimmy did say he was "all in".....to get you have to give....I love this deal as Pens are set in goal with Murray/Jarry...the day they drafted Gus.....knowing they had Murray/Jarry.....almost knew it was setting up a future trade and here we are!

I am glad that if came to the two, they chose Sprong. The fact that Brassy isn't a rental makes this an easier pill to swallow.
Cole was always in the doghouse. Even though he's way better than Hunwick, its clear HCMS didn't see it that way not to mention he's likely gone in a few months anyway.

JR isn't done yet... don't count on Spring staying...

Hate losing Cole. They're going to flip him, but this is still very good for us. Not losing Sprong is GREAT!
- madmike71

This is a really solid deal, especially with Brass signed through next season, our center depth can't be matched and will run 3 true scoring lines... you could even say 4 with a 4th line of Sheary - Sheahan - ZAR/Reaves

I wonder how a Penguin killer will do in the playoffs now that he is a Penguin.

I think you will be pleased with playoff Brassard.

I don't know what else there is to do that would involve Sprong going. At this point, Sheary straight up (who's signed for two more years) for Kane is fair value. Maybe a lesser pick.

BTW, Brassard has been playing really well lately. If he is your 3rd line center you are in great shape. Not many teams with a better guy in the three hole.

I hope the only other deal they make is offloading Hunwick for a pick. The 1st rounder's already gone; I don't want the only valuable piece in Sprongy moved too

No doubt it’s a lot to give up but 3 cups in a row in salary cap era might never be done again... had to do it. The loss of Cole is gonna be felt no matter what people say of hunwicks last game being good. I hope Rutherford goes and gets a depth dman for a 4th or 5th round pick

This team is officially better than 2015-2016. Lets rock and (frank)ing roll.

Granted, getting (frank)ing yoked of their minds didn't help the Caps last year, but JR definitely put us in the best possible place to succeed.

Brassard is signed through next season.
- acdc1206

I understand but I still think Brassard is not worth effectively a 1st, a 2nd (Gust), and Cole...our D is substantially weaker with Hunwick in there, and then we have Ruw if he can return and that's it...

I guess it just turns out I'm not a fan of TD deals, you always end up overpaying for assets.

It's not even a lot to give up. They gave up a goalie that's 4th on the depth chart, a UFA 4-6 defender, and a later first round pick for a guy better than Nick Bonino.

Is it really a lot to give up? I thought the Pens made out quite well.

JR can make up for the late 1st by signing some more college bodies. Cole is a UFA and prob not returning.

If anything, I'm surprised that is all the Sens could muster up for a guy who isn't a u-haul rental. Granted the ownership is (frank)ed and prob tied management's hands, but still. I'm not even sure how much Kane will go for now.

I think he might find a way to throw a mid-round pick to replace some depth on the back end.

The way the Caps are playing, the Pens have an actual chance to finish 1st in the metro. I never thought I would be saying this after December.

Anyone see us as a dark horse for McDonagh? Rangers showing ability to trade within division, granted it was a rental in Grabner, but if the price lowers maybe?

Pens made off like bandits. People are too attached to Cole. And Gus is years away. (frank) em.

Schlemko's not being used by Montreal last I checked. Always thought he'd be good. Wish the Sharks had bought out Paul Martin. Bringing him in on vet minimum would be great.

Losing Cole sucks, but we got Brassard who is a good playoff performer. Should be worth it.

When do you think Gus will have a legit chance to win the starting job in Pittsburgh? 3 or 4 years?

Cap wouldn't work out. Rangers aren't retaining on a termed contract.
