why would we trade Reaves? I'm not sure that we would re-sign him but honestly what trade value does he have? What contender wants him?

He's also starting to become effective on the cycle and now with Sheahan as his center, I actually really like that line.

Damn you guys are going to have a good team.

Is this the deepest you've ever been at center, including when Staal was there?

- david22

I think it might be one of the deepest of any team in recent memory.

Crosby is an all-time great.

Malkin by most people's estimation is one of the league's top 100 players and a current top 5 player in goals and point as a 2nd line center.

Brassard is clearly a 2nd line center on the 3rd line. And he'll get to play with a top 10 scorer in Kessel so he has the talent on his line to keep scoring.

Sheahan has 22 points his last 42 games showing he can produce at a 3rd line rate and will now play on a 4th line with guys like Sheary and Ashton-Reese who've been on the top line as recently as last game.

Holy Sh!t guys! I was tapped out of the hockey world and returned to see this. Wow. Pens are definitely stronger no dought, dont like losing Cole but it's more so for the sentimental two championship winnings with him reason. He is a warrior and a shot blocking machine. Battles real hard...but... the Pens are offensively insane now. Already were, really.

All good questions. I'm just saying what Mackey said on Madden's show. Both Reaves and Sheary don't PK. Unless things change, which they probably will, I think Rowney is going to take Reaves spot on wing. I don't think Brassard kills penalties....right?

A complicated transaction involving Derick Brassard to Pittsburgh. That's why their's no confirmation by teams as of right now.

Now he'll get to see that twitchy eyebrow thing of Trotz up close when they lose in the 2nd round.

Solid #5 vet that kills penalties. Kind that gets a good pick at deadline when you flip him.

Hasn't this year. Question will be is ZAR or Guentzel good enough or do they play Rowney. They have the option of giving Crosby or Malkin some extra shifts on the 4th line and playing Sheahan at wing so the 12th forward isn't super important at even strength.

I dunno... in 11 seasons he has like 90 minutes total on the PK. Most he's ever played in a season 19. I think he probably could play it, but I don't think his coaches made it a habit of putting him on the PK.

So some quick calculations if we sign all our RFAs except Kuhnhackl and call up Sprong next year we'd be at around 74-76M in cap space used with 11F, 7D, and 2G. No room for Hornqvist or another name wing without cutting, but no need to dump anyone either.

PIT-OTT deal involving Brassard is ultra-complicated, so much so that Brassard will likely first be traded to a team other than PIT. Then flipped to PIT. Hearing that third team is likely VGK. Potential for layers of salary retention.
