This comes not from a place of anger or annoyance, but if this is the best deal the Rangers could have gotten than Rangers didn't a good enough job at seeling Grabner. Not matter who they traded him, doesn't matter if it's the Devils.
Pete V asked me last night what I thought. The pick doesn't matter especially when dealing with the Rangers. From the WJC, I like Rykov's game. The risk is him ever leaving Russia. |

Lets face it Tom, it doesnt matter what the Rangers get in any trade, you were going to find a way to be disappointed about it.

I just don't like calling it "gravy". It's just a regional difference like how some rubes call sandwiches "grinders" or calling soda "pop". |

You're not understanding simple supply and demand logistics here.... If there were 10 teams in on Grabner and this was the best offer, THAT'S the market, that's what he is worth. That also means your valuation of Grabner being worth a first is biased and off-market.
edit: I'm assuming you think he was worth a first |

Michael Grabner has been a top 10 goal scorer at even strength since being a Ranger.
Last year he had a total of 6:03 of power play time. This year he got 3:17. Idk how the Rangers didn't get more. They did a bad job. That's not opinion. It's a statistical fact. |

This cannot be called a win or loss until all the dust settles. If Grabner comes back this looks even better. Maybe other inquiring teams wanted Grabner to commit beyond this rental term and he refused? That could have impacted value. Maybe he has no intention of signing with anyone else this FA season. At least for now. |

Still think its early with him. He has good offensive talent and looks better defensively this 2nd go around. I wouldn't care if he was a 6th/7th. - mdw7413

I don't think it is that clear cut. There are/were factors at play that we know nothing about. Maybe Gorton IS completely inept but we are not going to know that right now, maybe ever. |

At least the last night was good in terms of the Standings.
Montreal, Edmonton and Florida all win. Islanders and Wings get a point. |

Pens were in on Grabner. I suspect Rutherford was reluctant based on probability some of the assets needed could be used in Brassard talk. |
