1. Karlsson is arguably NHL’s top defenceman and top five, if not top three, players in the game. 2. The Senators are actively/seriously engaged in talks to trade him. 3. Even if it doesn’t happen by Monday, it may very well occur in the off-season. In any case, unique situation.
Bidding war on Karlsson. Team might get desperate for Mcdonagh.

Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli talking to media right now... Didn't have too much to say, hinted the team doesn't need boat load of $ at centre, but added Draisaitl can play the wing. So.. carry on

I've been thinking about the McDonagh thing, and while I thought that his value would actually be higher now than at the draft, there is also the argument to be made that the Rangers could get a much higher pick for him if they traded him at the draft. They got the 7th pick for Stepan last year for the most part, assuming Tony D and Raanta cancel each other out. That being said, Stepan is under contract for much longer.
This is definitely an interesting one, but the Rangers do have the luxury to wait on McDonagh if they aren't comfortable with the deals that are out there -- meaning that they don't have to be rash about trading McDonagh.

Value has to be higher now. Team would have him for 2 playoff runs instead of one. If the Rangers do trade him they better get a haul back.

But more teams would be interested at the draft, not just contending teams for a cup

Gun to my head (sorry lol), I think Boston gets him by Monday - for Donato, Carlo and there 1st. Maybe other small pieces. That’s my prediction. I think that’s a good deal, getting a top prospect, top 4 D and another first rder. Boston doesn’t give up a Debrusk so I’d think they’d be ok doing it
