Brassard is a good player, not sure the Pens D will hold up, unless they make another move.

Let PIT suck for 10 years. Sid can’t hold up for every. Not sure Brassard puts them ahead of WAS or anyone of the top teams in the West.

Also, I thought Leier looked really solid last night. I think this team could go for a solid vet D for a low pick and call it good. I’d like to see Sanheim too but even with him, if Mad Dog is injured they need another reliable option.

I believe they can only do that if the pick is top 10. If it's 11th or later, they have no options.
- BiggE

This.

The Blues can only defer if the 2018 pick is in the top-10. Deferring to 2019 will cost them an extra 2020 3rd rounder. If I understand it correctly, if they defer to 2019, there will be no protection on that pick whatsoever.

Time to go get Karlsson. Do something, Ron.

Can't fault the Pens going for it, but it's usually the team that makes more subtle moves that pays off. Since the 04/05 lockout, the only time that the team that won the big fish also won the SC was Carolina back in 05/06.

My bet is Tampa picks him up if he does get traded.

Big game Brass. He is a perfect addition for them. That is not much to give up either, though I'm glad the Flyers didn't. Flyers equivalent would be like Gudas, Sandstrom and a 1st.

Good trade for the Pens. The Sens...well they remain a joke. Two useful assets but man they should be punched in the Richard for wasting Karlsson

Can't really blame him if he flat-out requests a trade.

If I were him, I'd go to the GM and tell him that I'd like to be traded, and that I will give him 36 hours before I tell my agent, who may or may not go public with the information.

They basically traded Zibanejad and a 2nd for a late 1st round pick, Ian Cole, and Gustavsson.

Ouch.

From what I can gather, EK generally loves the actual city of Ottawa. His wife is from there, and they recently built a house. However, I can't imagine him being pleased with the Sens front office. He's probably torn.

I'm sure he could afford an off-season residence there as well as a new residence in a different city.

There is a big stretch between doing something and getting Karlsson via trade. You're probably talking the two 1st's& Simmonds or a high grade prospect like Sanhiem or Frost.

Can't imagine that Ian Cole even gets on a plane to Ottawa. He is getting flipped and probably already has been flipped. Wouldn't be shocked if that is the next domino to fall

Ottawa has said they would like to offload Bob Ryan's contract as well going with Karlsson.

I just heard some self professed Flyers expert at my work make this statement at which point I wanted to hit him with a elbow from the top rope and I quote "Flyers should trade Provorov and TK for Karlsson. They have never had a true number 1 dman"

I inserted myself into that conversation and said Chris Pronger, Kimmo and Mark Howe say hi to which he replied " who are they?"
