Fair concern considering reality. However, if you cross off all the names of players whose contracts expire in the next year or two, you're crossing off most of the players who we could reasonably expect to be available. Think about a skilled-winger trade market without all the following names: Skinner, Nyquist, Pacioretty, Zuccarello, Simmonds, Silfverberg and Johansson just off the top of my head. Who's left? Hoffman and Gallagher?

Skinner hasn't had a major injury since recovering from his concussions in 2012-13. He's fine. However, I'd certainly entertain the thought of Tatar+ for Nuge.

Also, for curiosities sake, what’s your opinion on Benson?

I don't think Saad is a target we should pursue. Part of our aim should be acquiring a guy to help the PP and Saad is not that guy. It's great that he scores the vast majority of his points at evens, controls possession and defends well, but without two of elite skill, a strong shooting arsenal or PP proficiency, I don't think he should be a focus.

He'd be a great fit with Draisaitl, though. Speed, two-way acumen, good 5-on-5 scorer; they'd pretty much be Toews-Hossa reborn.

So far it's wholly evident that this management team doesn't actually value any manner of statistical measure when he calls Letestu a good veteran and proven playoff performer despite all evidence that he (and his line) have been so bad that he's more than negated McDavid's positive effect this year.

As for the drafting, not much we can do but continue posting our preferred players fall past our pick and/or watch them be developed by others team (Trocheck, Severson, Bowey, Point, Dermott, Sergachev, Suzuki, etc etc etc etc)

Last year everyone loved it when he was scoring some pp goals. I tried to remind them all how bad he was the year prior. If he can’t help the pp he is completely useless and this year he has not helped the pp. Problem is we don’t have another right shot that is any better in that spot.
