Brassard to Pittsburgh for a package of things that mean little to them right about now and they're just about ready to run for the threepeat. Must be fun to be a consistent competitor... |

Lol. Blow him Already. He made a dumb statement and I called him in it.
Every fan of every team can make the exact claim he did. This argument from you guys is JB level. - Iggysbff
Because I agree with him?
I just don’t understand what your argument is with his statement. It’s not like Maxbone is saying these prospects are gonna make the bigs. What’s wrong with being pleased with positive signs of growth (however small)?
With how poopty this season has gone (not to mention all the seasons past), I just don’t understand why a person needs to go looking for negativity. |

Never said great late round bets; I said good. My- and most others'- classification for a good late round bet is a player with a projectable offensive ceiling and who looks poised to improve. All of the guys I mentioned (excluding Marino) took or are taking substantial steps forward in their first post-draft season. That constitutes a positive development and an overall positive trajectory for the trend towards their potential for a career. The ones who are beyond their first post-draft season all took and are taking steps forward in their 2nd and 3rd seasons after drafting once again constituting positive growth and an improved trajectory towards an NHL career.
What more do you want out of a prospect? Am I not allowed to speak positively of our prospects for the mere fact that they "haven't made it yet and might never make it"? Get bent. That is easily the weakest argument I've heard on this site.
You're not even challenging my assessment; you're impotently challenging the semantics of my point. If you were to challenge my assessment, you'd raise a point that counters my argument instead of trying to pick apart my exact wording on how I could possibly call a positively trending, higher ceiling late round pick as a good bet (ignoring that a "good bet" in NHL late round drafting standards equates to anything above 15% chance to make it). - MaximumBone
You realise who you're talking to right ?

Probably get a similar return to Grabner. A 2nd and a C prospect or the equivalent near-NHL middle 6 prospect (with speed). |

that's why I thought taking a gamble on a guy like Petan might be a good option |

I can see your point and it's not like I think Petan would be a bad choice; I just personally think there are better fits (Joseph, Cirelli or JFK). |

Can't really blame you on that front.
Being blunt about earlier, I still don't agree with you but I think I might've handled it worse than I should've. I jumped into a veiled personal attack without warrant and reckon I owe you an apology. I'm sorry for that. |
