Might be true for this year but I would bet a lot of people will think twice about renewing their expensive season tickets next year.
- Garfield512

I don't think they have to worry about season ticket holders, the line is long on that one for people to take their place.

Casual/ Single game ticket sales might be an issue, though.

And that is the problem.

Or, looking at it another way, if they do honestly blow it up, the financials won't be terrible.

As in, they put a tank worthy team on the ice, and people will still pay? True, but the loss of a playoff round hurts the team more than losing out on tickets in the regular season. Owners don't pay anything come playoffs. Once the team starts missing out on those consistently, they will pay attention sooner or later.

THat is the problem. Your management feels obligated to them, and it's not wrong to. They want to win, they want to be able to fill the seats. But man, oh man...they have to realize it's not gonna work this way. Those old timers have to eat 2-3 of complete horsepoop to reap the rewards.
- weirdoh

Agreed ... I'm one of those old timers and I recognize that the league is much different than what it was in the 70's and 80's when we were winning Cups regularly.

Unfortunately, there's still a portion of old geezers who think we can return to those glory days ... NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! ... there's now 32 teams fighting for a limited pool of talent.

The team itself doesn't help by continuously rehashing those glory days to fans but the message is starting to sound hollow after 25 years without a reaching a Cup final.

One thing is for sure, we sure as hell won't be winning anything soon with this current batch of heartless (and mostly talentless) players. These bums are in it for a paycheck and nothing else ... fans are wising up to them.

As you said, either we commit to a complete rebuild or we'll still be complaining in 20 years why we're no closer to a Cup.

They signed him at the beginning of the year and is a big reason why they’re playing like giant vaginas all season! But on a tampon bed of excuses as always.....

I think they're unrelated.

We already have all the money we need to give to Tavares.

- Scabeh

Sure you have lots of cap room for tavaras if you plan on shopping in the echl for the rest of your roster. No way Tavaras comes to montreal, dont see any draw unless he was a closet habs fan all along. He is certainly not going to montreal currently with cup hopes. Maybe if they get dahlin it might bring it up to a 2% chance.

As I stated before if your hopes are in JT your probably going to have to settle for a return of Jarred Tinordi.

You guys will get Benoit-Olivier Groulx and like it.
- AdamFrench

Hey that's what ive been saying they will do. Go off the board with the number 3 pick and select a good local french canadian boy. Cant miss on that one! Would be another smart decision by management.

Lou might be willing to swap 1st rounders and throw in colin greening. That way you still get your man groulx and a first line centre in greening.
