They got nothing for Markov and it looks like Bergevin lowballed him. Plekanec helped this team in the past, but I think it's time to move on. I don't think you can deal with too much emotions if you want the team to be better.
If we only get 4th or 5th round picks for him, I would agree with you. I just think a team will give something more valuable long term for us. - deadpoulet

Too bad trade deadline day is next monday and not after july first. - deadpoulet
With no significant pending free agents and the team miles away from a playoff spot, that's somewhat irrelevant.... Plekanec, Niemi, Schlemko, Benn and Morrow are really the only players at risk of being moved by Monday |

For more puds with longer term, and higher salary. He's got a bunch of money, and all he's heard is how he never spent it. |

Seriously though, terrible news that Price and Weber are on the books until 2026. |

Ok man. Legit question.
When that trade went down, PK for Weber, what was on your mind?
I can remember where I was for some reason, I texted a Habs fan buddy of mine (he's an bumhole, obvie) and he wasn't as impressed as I was. I legit thought this guy was gonna be the piece that made you guys legit. |

Nope, I'm with you man. When your team is in the outs, poop has to change. Took mine decades ((frank), legit decades) to realise this. |

The Sergachev/Drouin trade will prove to be much worse than the Subban/Weber deal

Yeah, I know ... you guys have gone through hell for a long time before you finally got some qualified people running the team.
We need the do the same things you guys did a few years ago ... clean house and fumigate the whole 2nd floor ... then commit to a proper rebuild.
We're not going anywhere with the current players. |

That's one that doesn't look good from the immediate results. Drouin seemed a little full of himself asking for a trade at an age like that, no? Or was that just bs media? |

It does look very bad at this point ... they got a winger and tried to make him into a centerman. Can't wait until they try to turn Price into a defenseman.
The incompetence of this management group boggles the mind.

Hardest part is the year before the tank, the year rock bottom is hit. You lose all interest in them losing without a cause. But once you know there's a golden pick at the end of the tunnel with poop not clogging up the salaries...so cool. I think Weber has to be dealt for peanuts to lose that money. He's hurting the Habs in that regard more than anything....unless he gets sent to Robidas Island? That would be a coup for Habs fans. |

No, I viewed that situation as a tad arrogant and immature on his part, he doesn't do very well in his own end either but because his name is Drouin and not Galchenyuk he seems to dodge most of the criticism... He was also put in a position to fail from the beginning, like several players on this team |

I agree that some of the high priced assets need to go ... but Bergy is trying to save his job at this point and I don't want him to do anymore deals ... he has done enough damages as it is.
The only thing Geoff Molson will have to sell to fans in the next few years will be hope ... and to do that he has to clean house to convince fans he's serious about it or he'll be seeing a lot more empty seats at the Bell Centre. |

I remember when Shanny came in. He said enough is enough. Real fans will agree and know poop has to change. Albeit begrudgingly. We have our "platinum seat" fans, the people who pay top dollar for those seats because it's the thing to do, not because they are fans. They are the (frank)s who ruined this team year in year out. You guys have that at the Bell Centre? |

Not to the same level I would think as there are probably more corporations buying tickets in Toronto.
The empty seat at the Bell Centre this year is a sure sign that something has to change ... and soon!
The level if disinterest in the team is something I have never witnessed before, even the TV ratings are way down.
EDIT: What is more concerning is that the hardcore fans are in their 50's ... the younger crowd doesn't even remember the last Cup win and has no particular attachment to the team. Geoff Molson should be very concerned. |

People not showing us is vastly different than tickets not being purchased. The only people losing money on tickets are scalpers. That being said, I bet concessions $$ is down a lot, which has got to hurt. |

Might be true for this year but I would bet a lot of people will think twice about renewing their expensive season tickets next year. |

THat is the problem. Your management feels obligated to them, and it's not wrong to. They want to win, they want to be able to fill the seats. But man, oh man...they have to realize it's not gonna work this way. Those old timers have to eat 2-3 of complete horsepoop to reap the rewards. |
