I understand McDonagh is decent, but ive never considered him anything special TBH. While he would make us better, I just dont see him as a fit. Better to save the prospects and cap space for more impact players.

Man sometimes GM's have to thank the player for what they brought and let another GM pay him for his past performance. I REALLY hope this isn't a mistake the Leafs make when Kadri or another players contract is up.

and I know the Leafs have the core pretty much set on forward but we need to let top prospects like Andreas Johnson wither away in the AHL and turn into a 13th forward with no value like Lievo. It makes too much sense.

Oh 100% it's difficult. Especially if you've been on a few cup winning teams and spent assets for additional runs, you're cupboards are looking bare of prospects but you still need to ice a competitive team.

Tough to pull the trigger but I do hope the Leafs can manage it
