Tanev to TO for Lilgren , a 2018 1st and a conditional pick in 2019.
Conditions are based on games played in 2019
Less then 41 games and it's a third, goes up to a 2nd if he plays 70 or more games, turns into a first whether or not he plays 41 games if he plays in 16 playoff games combined over the next two playoffs. - imsorry66

Less than 55 games and we get Liljegren back, plus Vancouver's 2019 2nd rounder. |

Duncan Keith is still very good. Hawks have a terrible season and his production dropped but that doesn't make him suddently terrible.
Seabrook? In my opinion this guy has been overrated for a while... playing with Keith helped him tremendously. - Scabeh
Meh, Seabrook was the better player as they broke into the league.... |

That wasn't the proposed deal that you said wasn't enough. And something to ponder....the leafs are in 6th overall. Does McD replacing Gardiner change that position? My point is I'm not sure it does. So why are we including the other assets to be in the same position? Personally....I actually like 5 of our d..Reilly, Gardiner, zaitsev, dermott, hainsey. ..and no I'd rather add to it then do a sideways move that costs us additional assets. - mykokes
The Rags won't take Gardiner if they're rebuilding, might as well keep McDonough. |

duncan keith...remember how good he was at 28? howzabout seabrook.....and now? not so much.....
It's common sense, not to mention factual metrics that players begin their decline around 27-28.
I'll take McD, but not for the ridiculous ask rumours.....chrissakes vatrano just got the bruins a 3rd rounder. The guy can't even crack a line-up and has 2 goals.
The cost to attain will be overpayment and simply not worth gutting the Leafs plan. - Barx
Kieth is still good now....and Mcd is 6 years away from being Kieths age.
ffs it isn't like top pairing d turn into sacks of poop when they hit 35. He will be good for a long time, and for plenty if Leaf playoff runs if they were to trade for him. It is pretty simple. |

I felt the conversation switched when you said you don't think Mcd is ranked ahead of Gardiner anymore. If that's the case then why even bother with the spare parts? If you truly feel that way then you would decline Mcd for Gardiner straight up. Like I said, I have a hard time believing that. I'm not trying to be insulting or anything so don't take this the wrong way. - RickJames77
OK. ..let me put it to you this way...I've seen the leafs without Gardiner in the lineup. For all his mistakes....his puck moving ability would be sorely missed. Mcd is the right type of Dman to acquire but do I want to give up what Gardiner produces to get him. ..no.

how about the leafs promote Liljegren to the big club next season, and they also keep the 1st and conditional pick along with any shred of their self respect as an organization, and vancouver keeps tanev |

The thing you forget in all of this is the youth and talent that would have to be paid for McD, he isn't a goddam free agent.
Why get rid of the wealth of youth now???

because you aren't getting mcd for free......if he was free? sure, all aboard....giving up our youthful depth before it blossoms is asinine. - Barx
You have to give to get man
The Leafs have plenty of talent, the core is pretty much set. a lot of the prospects the Leafs have will turn out to be nothing..If you have to trade a few to get something they desperatly need they will do it, for the right price |

The condition is conditional upon his condition and whether his condition is altered by less than ideal playing conditions which limits his playing time and increases his conditioning stints. Keep up Scabs, it's pretty simple stuff. |

Man sometimes GM's have to thank the player for what they brought and let another GM pay him for his past performance. I REALLY hope this isn't a mistake the Leafs make when Kadri or another players contract is up. |

He is signed through 2 years. I am sure they would plan on keeping him after that too....The Leafs have a surplus of talent and youth. There is no need to horde them if the right price can be obtained for something you need. |
