The Leafs won't move up or down anyway.
If he is gone for the year, then I could see the Leafs changing their plans. If he is back for the playoffs, nothing changes. - Aetherial
I agree...not that you care |

Ah ok, yes I saw lots of empty seats as well....but Ive seen that for several events. The prices are too damn high. the IOC has a problem there for sure.
5 hours is a big difference in the broadcast world. - Fakepartofme
I know first hand that based on the #'s so far, some big Canadian sponsor partners won't be involved with the next winter games. |

Matthews with separated shoulder ( thats my guess ) almost looked like he was about to faint when he went down the hall...wobbled and the trainers kind of held him up.
(frank) it, trade the UFA's if hes going to be out awhile.
Go Vegas Go - Garnie
Trade jvr and get a decent 3C that can score 20
Trade prospects pick for 3-4 D man
I say try to pry Eric staal from Minnesota or pageau from ott. Glendening Check out stats staal-impressive
We need some reinforcement for C position. Do not bring Matthews back until he is healed for playoffs!!!

Exactly, they will still be 3rd in the division and still play Boston. |

Beijing so I assume the same?
I just work with a few of them and they did not have this same amount of disappointment that they did with Sochi. Might be all talk right now but some big names aren't getting involved as of right now because viewers aren't there and there is a general apathy from most Canadians in their mind. |

Summer Olympics is over there too.. - bixll
Not a huge fan of the summer olympics. Not really interested in most of the sports.
I like the mountain biking, rowing (for some reason), beach volleyball but thats about it. Sure I'll watch the 100, 200 and 400m if a canuck is involved. |

I noticed that last night as well. I looked at a friend and said "uh oh, that didn't look good".
Which makes me think it'll be a few weeks.
I guess we will find out in like half hour or so |

Trading for old guys like Eric Staal is the old Leaf way of doing things that led to 50 years of futility.
We don't want to trade young assets for vets, unless we think we have a chance to win.
Free agents like Marleau, Hainsey and Moore are fine, but no picks or prospects for guys past their best before date.

Same. I like to throw them on even for background noise and find myself getting caught up in bobsled or biathlon or some other poop |

54pt, $3.5mil Eric Staal?
I'd kill to have him right now but Minny would never give that up. |

I know. He is a very aggressive player with great hands and excellent playmaker. I hope with Matthews injury that Lou zeros in a bit to get a good Center that can go 3C or 4C Question is is there anyone that can help us available. |

I don't think a Matthews injury, unless devastating, will have any bearing on deadline moves. Leafs have a 21pt cushion on Detroit and a small chance of getting home ice advantage for the first round. I think whatever designs Lou had in mind yesterday morning are exactly the same as right now. |

Well it certainly screws up the Matthews, Nylander, 2 1sts and Lillybust for Tanev deal.
Never gonna get Joffrey Tanev now. |

and thus the Leafs will never be put over the top. Tanev would be our keystone (along with our new top line of Hyman, Kadri, Marner ) |
