I just work with a few of them and they did not have this same amount of disappointment that they did with Sochi. Might be all talk right now but some big names aren't getting involved as of right now because viewers aren't there and there is a general apathy from most Canadians in their mind.

Not a huge fan of the summer olympics. Not really interested in most of the sports.
I like the mountain biking, rowing (for some reason), beach volleyball but thats about it. Sure I'll watch the 100, 200 and 400m if a canuck is involved.

Trading for old guys like Eric Staal is the old Leaf way of doing things that led to 50 years of futility.
We don't want to trade young assets for vets, unless we think we have a chance to win.
Free agents like Marleau, Hainsey and Moore are fine, but no picks or prospects for guys past their best before date.

I don't think a Matthews injury, unless devastating, will have any bearing on deadline moves. Leafs have a 21pt cushion on Detroit and a small chance of getting home ice advantage for the first round. I think whatever designs Lou had in mind yesterday morning are exactly the same as right now.
