TV revenue is down man. Pretty quantifiable. Here's 5 apples, I'm going to take away 3 of them. See how that works?

And the IOC never paid the insurance, that's the whole problem. It's not like they were and now that they're not, they're saving it. They never did. That's why the NHL is like (frank) you.

The Olympics are all kinds of crooked bullpoop. The NHL is a for-profit megacorp, but at least they're transparent about it: the Olympics, not so much.

- gravyface

Its down cause of the time difference to North America.
However, do you have a link that says that revenue is actually down?
The IOC would have had to pay the insurance in order to get the NHL'ers there. So by not having them there...they dont have to spend that money.
I know the IOC is corrupt...its like FIFA.

Either way...not having the NHL'er there doesnt impact the IOC overall. Only for NA......there's a whole other world.
If viewership is down and sponsorship is down overall....its not just because of not having the nhl'ers there.

Matthews with separated shoulder ( thats my guess ) almost looked like he was about to faint when he went down the hall...wobbled and the trainers kind of held him up.

(frank) it, trade the UFA's if hes going to be out awhile.

Agreed. If Matthews is out like 3-4 weeks, trading guys like Komarov and JvR wouldn't be all that bad of an idea.

Welp. I really hope Germany can pull off the Gold.

Although it will suck to hear about all those Russian players all accidentally falling down stairs/off buildings after the game.

A little harsh. One of my daughters good friends plays for them. Awesome to watch her out there.
- bixll

No doubt it was. My brother in law was great friends with Tessa Bonhomme when she was on all those gold medal teams.....always exciting to watch.
But the US owned them in OT...and canucks were chasing in the 3rd. US was a faster team, we knew that heading in.
I wasnt surprised they lost...disappointed for sure. I love watching the womens hockey team....even more so than the men....great passion.

If Russia doesn't win, they should be shot

It'll be 6-0 for Russia or something like that.

But I do hope Germany wins it, wouldnt that be ludicrous.

well, 7am start vs noon start for this Olympics vs. Sochi, not a huge difference. Both are during business hours for the most part.

I don't have any hard stats, but I saw some tweets saying that ratings are way down for hockey, nothing else; empty seats at a lot of the games too.

Wont get much just before the draft.

He wont be traded until then.

- Fakepartofme

JVR's rights will go to someone for a 4th.

Bozak will go to free agency and if he is willing to take a short term deal with re-sign with the Leafs... but more likley he gets 5 years from a team like Montreal, or Pittsburgh.

I think they let Komarov walk.

Or they go the other way and hold onto to them, grab a rental center to make up for it.

But something tells me they won't.

Everyone is discounting our chances this year (me too), but there's so much parity nowadays, you can't not try if you're in the dance, just because the moneypuck odds say so.

The Leafs won't move up or down anyway.

If he is gone for the year, then I could see the Leafs changing their plans. If he is back for the playoffs, nothing changes.

Ah ok, yes I saw lots of empty seats as well....but Ive seen that for several events. The prices are too damn high. the IOC has a problem there for sure.

5 hours is a big difference in the broadcast world.
