I think he meant that a rumoured deal for Karlsson to Toronto does not involve Mathews....thus the quote "Not for Mathews" |

lol why the hell would ottawa trade karlsson to their most hated rival? It's already verging on franchise suicide that they're trading him to begin with. i wouldn't even want to trade him IN-CONFERENCE if i could avoid it |

Looking at all the trades that have happened in the past month, Eklund has not caught any of them except for the Philly, RedWings goalie trade.
Why do we continue torturing ourselves with a blog manager who spews fake news and cannot predict anything? It's like a weatherman who is always incorrect. In the world of hockey, a player who is unable to meet the standards of an NHL team gets demoted, I feel like our player here is continuously letting us down and we need change.

Not saying it would happen. Just clarifying as it seemed that people thought Ottawa would not take Mathews for Karlsson. If in fact this was on the table, no brainer for Ottawa....but no way Ottawa trades him to TO or Mont. - ever. |

A Karlsson for Matthews trade would make Ottawa look glorious around the league and to their tiny fan base and would make the Leafs look idiotic. Of course Ottawa would make that trade. |

Agreed. Funny all around. Wait it out.....get a feeling after the season if he will re-up with OTT. If not, then game on leading up to the draft. Unless they get a stupid offer before Monday they cant refuse. |

I don't think so. I think if it ever reaches the point where this volume of rumours leaks out about a player of that stature it's going to happen.
Karlsson settling for nothing less than market rate with one of the poorest and/or cheapest teams in the league reluctant to pay it, there's really only one outcome.
Of course, all the rumours a few years ago were that Stamkos was going to test free agency, and then he didn't, but i'd argue it's a lot different this time
Also if things have really reached the point of irreconcilable differences between the team and player, there's absolutely no reason not to trade him at the deadline to get the biggest return possible. Unless they insist on this dumb idea of attaching ryan to any trade |

they usually don't scratch a guy pending trade until the very last minute/when the trade call is imminent.
Hell, the new trend is just to make trades DURING the game and pull the player out of the game to trade them. used to be rare |
