The problem with this team/organization is NOT Q.
Stan should be driven to the airport and never to be heard from again.

Tommyhawk is way cooler so we should be fine.
- HawkintheD

Tommyhawk can be a pain in the ass. They have had multiple people behing the mask over the years. About 20 years ago at the UC the Tommyhawk used to mime the hell out of me. See me in the concourse and get in my face with a bunch of stupid poop. The more I told him to go away the more he persisted. And the more he would look for me and do it again. I was a bit busy during the games but my wife had my 10 year old son there and we were meeting up between the periods. I told him he had the green light to fire on Tommyhawk if he got in my face. Sure enough here comes the mascot. My kid looks at me and I nod my head. And my kid smoked him right in the sack. Had to be a hundred people laughing as Tommyhawk limped away all bent over. Never happened again.

You're right, the line blender in hyperdrive, guys playing up and down the lineup and not in their natural positions, PP of 2017-18, resembling PP of 2009-2010, the team collectively taking first periods (sometimes whole games) off...all classic signs and symptoms of a team quitting on the GM.

I recognize your disdain for Bowman which is what it is, but change happens in all walks of life. When the coach can't successfully implement a new system, game plan, or whatever to change with the times, maybe he is part of the problem too.

They need to do 3 things:
1. Get a new coaching staff. Q is a great coach but time for new blood. The system is not working with the players they have and the PP is a joke and has been for years.

2. Fix the GM situation. I don't know if Bowman has too many people in his sand box but it sure seems like it. I can't see how a GM would not get fired for giving up 2 second round choices for Timonin or giving out contracts that make no sense financially and that handcuff your ability to make any future moves. Maybe it's because other higher ups were involved? Don't know but, IF Bowman did make those decisions all by himself, he should fired immediately.

3. Do ANYTHING you can to get rid of Seabrook. I love the guy but he's not very good anymore and his contract is going to keep the team from getting better players. And if you can't move him, cut off those stupid tongue flaps on his skates. Maybe that will help him skate faster.

Major shakeup, unfortunately, while the best route from a hockey standpoint, is the most expensive to implement organizationally.

Educated guess:

Q gets "reassigned" within the organization this summer, Bowman stays but under a "turn this thing around or else" Sword of Damocles.

Likely they promote Granato or Dineen (but that part is pure speculation).

Reassigned to do...what?

Scout? Work with the Hogs? Troubleshooter? Ambassador?

Can't be anything where he has to interact with Bowman (or probably McDonough).

I don't know all of the functions that go on with a sports franchise - but I'm not sure I see a viable alternative role for Q if Bowman and McDonough are still there.

LOL! People put on a mask/costume and think they can do anything. Hope your son was treated with a trip to the concession stand or Hawkquarters or whatever it was at the time.

I was never quite sure why - since the team was named after a native Sauk leader (yes, I know indirectly - it was officially named after McLoughlin's Black Hawk Division in WWI) - why is the mascot a bird hawk?

I understand that they couldn't have someone dressed as an Indian leader, but still....

Make him an Ambassador. I'm sure Pully's office by the lake is empty, he could occupy that.

Give him a sales position at Judge & Dolph and hand him the Binny's account.

I like Q and appreciate his time and accomplishments with the Hawks but I think there is a disconnect going on between coach and players this season for whatever reason.

I know there were some questions about the Hawks this year and the possibility of them taking a step back and missing the playoffs; but when the season started did you pick Vegas as one of the team's leapfrogging the Hawks?

He can do appearances, be an ambassador. That's if he wants to stick around. They talked Savard into it and they tolerate Bobby Hull. I'm no Q guy but three cups has to be respected no matter what.

The D in general has been in too much flux, in my opinion, this season. Pairings have been shiffled, guys scratched, no time to develop relationships with the pairings. Just pick 6 guys and let them grow. Pains will be eveident, but how much better would a Murphy-Keith pairing be if they were together all year and learned their styles of play?

I know I'm not a pro, but I play defense with a lot of guys, and the guys I've played with the most are much easier for me to read and cover for or know they will cover for me.

I think the pressure on Q to win also drove this flux in lines as he is know for tinkering when it's not working, but I think he went too quickly this season. He needed to let chemistry develop a little better (again, my opinion).

I think he's probably gone this season unless they approach him about letting the kids grow and not changing so much next season and he buys in. Who knows if that will happen.

At the end of the year they will have organizational meetings. They will assess their roster, Q's system, how he utilizes players (the blender). If Bowman and McD have different ideas I would guess that Q is gone (by their choice or his).

I think Bowman will make a few more moves this summer to continue to transform the roster and he will be given at least another year.

Q staying in the organization makes sense given his contract.

I'd rather see Granato, fresh perspective.

It's a tough rebuild with so much cap space taken up by a couple/few players underperforming their contracts by a few million per. I'm still hoping there is a new CBA that allows one or two contracts to be dropped.

Curious to see what the roster looks like heading into next season; a quick retool to make another cup run (that'd be quite a retool) or a roster in rebuild mode with a longer planning horizon.

- matt_ahrens

II would put more money on Granato is Q is reassigned. He's a Stan guy and getting on the same pages is pretty important. Dineen has a good reputation as a head coach in Canada, but I'm not sure how much of the PP failure is on him.

Regarding young guys. I like Forsberg's form/style. I find him to be very similar to Crow circa 2010/11. Let's in some soft goals, mishandles the puck, runs a little hot and cold. If they play him in all games except back to backs the rest of the year I think we will know more. My guess is that he gets better and gains confidence. He will turn into a solid back up, and possible be ready to take over after Crow's contract is up (or sooner if Crow continues to have post concussion issues).

Before I tried that, I'd "strongly suggest" to him that he come back next season in top shape or see his favor falling out with the team. I think he's earned it.

If Q is relieved of his head coaching duties I doubt he accepts another position in the organization. He will have a new head coaching position anytime he wants it. Either next year or if he wants to take a year off the year after next.

But he's getting up there in years, so maybe he wants to wind his career down in a kush position making big cash.

Hard for me to see Q getting the boot, but it wouldn't surprised me at all.

Guess:

StanBo stays (feel like the big wigs still like him and Scotty having a face within the organization,) Q gets the boot depending on the trades that are made at the deadline. AA and Hartman go, Q I think sticks around. If they can't them out, they ditch Q and bring in a new coach with a different style to try to make it work in some facet.

What I would like: Keep Q, ditch StanBo. Q clearly does not have a roster that allows him to be the coach that we are all familiar with. Not to mention if Q goes, I am not a fan of what is possibly out there to replace him.

Monday is still a big day for the Hawks even if there aren't HUGE moves.

- purepone

Then Q can coach forever referencing your comments. If Q is unsuccessful because his coaching has been crazy it is still not his fault because he “ clearly does not have the roster to allow him to be the coach we are all familiar with”. Good gig to never be responsible.
