LOL Pittsburgh with great trade...they did Bowman for Daley a couple years ago and they're back again...

gave up a low #1, a goalie they don't need and a player they didn't want for a legitimate piece that elevates them toward another Cup.

Sorry, but Pittsburgh is the NHL's best franchise over the last 10 years, their legitimate chance to 3-peat is simply remarkable.

Should ramp up the Center trade market with Brassard unavailable. Anisimov (if on the table) is theoretically the best available center now, right??

NO !! Trading 2 2nds for Timmonen was a disgrace and just because we won the cup shouldn't erase that horrific decision by Bowman and whoever else thought it was a good move.

Yes the Danault trade was a fiasco as well and just proved the miscommunication between Quenneville and upper management.

Nobody knows who's involved in the decision making process of these trades....which in itself is alarming.
So we ALL really don't know who is at fault for this team's collapse.

If I had to pick just one name......
I'd say the Captain # 19.
His ineptitude has started this entire downhill snowball effect. If he played to his 2015 level of production, there's a chance that all this finger pointing wouldn't exist.
Again......with a 40+ pt season, I can't imagine what the rest of the bench is snickering under their breath watching him perform shift after shift.

We can only hope that he can rebuild his body and approach to the game that made him one of the best centers in the game for all those years. He's 30, not 40, and if he still "wants it", he can do it.

Wow. Not sure what I was thinking but the next time the Hawks win a Cup, I won’t let that get in the way of me being angry about a trade the GM botched horribly.

I mean it’s happened for all my teams so often (Hawks, Bears, Cubs) I guess I need to focus on what really matters.

Good point. So theoretically Bowman should be able to get a 1, a prospect and a player???? Brassard and AA are in the same L2C/L3C ballpark.

The market has now been set. Betcha anything Bowman (frank)s this up and sells below the known market value for comparable player. See, Jeff Petry v. Kimo Timmonen....

Why would we want Flippula he is a ufa unless we would turn around and trade him. Raffl is a overpaid 4th liner. I would love Sam Morin big tough guy on the back line Travis Sanheim wouldn't be bad either.
- vandymeer23

Flippula would be a contract dump to get AA to fit under their cap. If he is included in any deal he should NOT be considered an asset coming back. Therefore Stan should be getting back a HUGE haul if willing to take a contract back in order to help Philly facilitate a deal. He won't because is is all too often inept at making trades.

Joel Quenneville was asked if a specific player

- pdx2ord[Murphy] had more to give, to which he responded while signaling at the locker room: "Here are another 23 guys who need more."
#Blackhawks

So, if I'm a player who is playing my a** off each night but I am making mistakes, either of my own volition, or more likely, because I'm playing with yet another set of line mates or a D-man with whom I've practiced either not at all or for a whopping 20 min just that morning, I am not going to go to battle for a guy who says stuff like this. You guys can talk all you want about believing that pro players getting paid shouldn't need motivation, but they can definitely become demoralized like every human being.

He has a bee in his bonnet about Murphy and has since he got here. Dollars to doughnuts it's because he came back for Hammer.

To me this sounds like a bit of verification of a piece someone wrote a blog or 2 ago. The poster stated that a friend of a friend that works at the UC said that Q will be out at the end of the season. This statement by Q makes me think he knows and frankly doesn't give a crap that he's throwing players under the bus.

Q seems like a nice man, but frankly he lost me long ago. I really haven't seen him do anything other than the blender, which annoys me every time., he has been blessed to have incredible talent playing incredible hockey despite him. He seems to do well managing a winning roster but will never be able to coach a team up. Maybe that's why he has never coached World Cup, Olympics or all-stars. The only compliment I have ever heard from a player about him is "no practice tomorrow"

To compare this to the rumored Philly trade.

Cole = Filpulla
1st round pick does not exist (I guess Raffl equals this? LOL)
G = Prospect
rumors were Hawks would retain...

so how the hell does Hartman get included in this package of poop?

If the deal as JJ speculated is anything near possible, then Stan Bowman needs to be preparing for his exit interview.

From The Athletic's odds-and-ends article by Powers https://theathletic.com/2...khawks-defenseman-depth/:

I talked to Hossa's agent Ritch Winter briefly about Hossa on Thursday. He didn't have much to say about Hossa either.

“He's feeling great,” Winter said. “He's missing the game, I suppose, but he's got a lot going on. He's busy with his family, driving his kids to school and doing stuff hockey players who have been playing for 20 years normally don't get to do. He's just enjoying life. He regrets not being on the ice with his teammates. He's left a bigger hole than expected.”

Winter thought Hossa would begin looking more at his future this spring and summer.
“He's trying to see what comes next,” Winter said. “Take his time, download, recharge and relax. Come the end of the season, he will turn his attention to what's next.”

Winter said nothing had changed with his Hossa's skin allergy, and he still was unable to wear hockey equipment.

“He would love to play hockey, but he can't do it without wearing his equipment,” Winter said.

What I respect and what frustrates me about Winter is his honesty. When asked if Hossa might waive his no-movement clause if the Blackhawks sought to trade his contract, Winter responded, “None of your business.” So, there's that.

Do love that Powers goes beyond practices and game nights to talk to and write about the prospects and other aspects of the game.

Mind you, Ottawa will probably trade Cole ...

In the end Ottawa for their 2nd/third line center could end up getting:

Good Prospect (the goalie)
A number 1 pick (albeit low)
an asset for Cole (I'd guess he would easily fetch a #2)

Does THAT LOOK LIKE ANYTHING like that stupid ass rumor involving Philly? (frank) no! I honestly think both Pitts and Ottawa did well on this trade.

Pens now outstanding down the middle 1-4C.

Nobody in the East can feel good about the trade, especially Tampa.

I may be overvaluing Anisimov, but I would expect him to yield more than Brassard.

- a slightly smaller contract on an AAV basis(~half a mil)
- more control (Brassard is under contract for 1 more season after this one VS 3)

I have tried to stay off the "Fire Bowman" train. However, if his biggest move this deadline is trading Kempny, I'll be firmly beating that drum going forward.

This team is only contending for a top-5 draft pick. Accept a bad contract in a trade, and enjoy the draft pick that comes back with it.

And that is why AA might not return the same value as what the Sens got for Brassard.

Teams know that the Hawks are in trouble in more ways than one (cap, overall roster core, etc.) so in essence, while the bar has been set for what SHOULD be received for AA, that does not mean the team(s) that the Hawks want to work with are in the same situation.

People tend to forget that trades happen because both sides come to an agreement that works for both sides. In the Hawks case, the teams they are dealing with might not have a MUST in needing AA, and therefore will use that in their leverage when making a move for him.

Heres hoping Stan doesn't screw this one up. Only good deal I have seen Stan make at the deadline IMO was for Vermette. FYI, that year I was in West Palm Beach on vacation when that happened. Weird thing is that I will be there again for this deadline. Coincidence???

I can tell you right now Columbus is where I see AA heading. I think they want AA to play with Panarin. They need a big guy who can help score some goals. They have the assets and are in the chase for the playoffs. They know (and like AA) and I think AA would waive to go there.

It's an absolutely perfect scenario.

Agreed......... he just may get fleeced again and accept a 2nd rounder and yet another bottom 6 guy that we have a ton of...... or........ he'll wait....and wait...... and wait..... and get nothing. But, if he puts Hartman in that deal, he dam well better get a top 4 potential young dman. ALSO remembering his # 2 for David Rundblad ...YUK....... do we really expect SB to make a great trade for us ??

LOL...damn you why did you mention that guy's name? Bowman gave up the pick that eventually became Chistian Dvorak for that bum. Dvorak would look pretty good on this team right now.

I am not a Stan fan at all, but I really hope he gets it done in this TDL because ultimately my favorite team suffers if Stan sucks. So I am rooting for him to get some nice things done this weekend.

I disagree with th this line of thinking do you honestly think Tampa or whoever else is trying for a cup is going to say screw the hawks I'm going to offer less If they believe AA is what they they need to win a cup. There going to do what they need for there team the hawks aren't screwed with the cap we have players making more than there worth but we have some cap space
