Ironic the Hawks are in Columbus Saturday night. Who's getting showcased and who's sitting out? Not surprised Torts and company are making a push for Anisimov.

Reassigned to do...what?

Scout? Work with the Hogs? Troubleshooter? Ambassador?

Can't be anything where he has to interact with Bowman (or probably McDonough).

I don't know all of the functions that go on with a sports franchise - but I'm not sure I see a viable alternative role for Q if Bowman and McDonough are still there.

They "reassigned" Tallon in 2009.

It's as much about what he doesn't do when reassigned as what he does.

See, there are two other alternatives: 1) they keep hm right where he is 2) they fire him and another team with a better roster, maybe in their own division, hires him and he embarrasses the poop out of the franchise.

They could use him a lot like they've used Barry Smith (who's also an old coach). Troubleshooting and teaching, evaluating and skills coaching up and down the organization. Or they could have him just scout.

That's what he did when they rescued him from Denver and that's most likely if he stays in my opinion. If Seattle gets a team I'd love to see him go there and see what happens.

Or pregame with AA and whoever comes to Chicago donning the new sweater! Because I will be at that game. And it would be fun or at least different.

Stan's biggest mistake coming into this year? There are so many possibilities!

I think his #1 mistake was thinking the defense was good enough to go deep into the playoffs. At this point it looks like the team has one current top 4 defenseman in Keith. Maybe some of the guys in the system grow into a top 4 down the road but that was a big miss.

Second was his assumption that 2, 7, and 19 would be better this year than last when the opposite has been true.

I'd put the backup goalie situation third

Fourth was that Saad would improve the team over Panarin.

Fifth, the Hammer trade

Sixth, that he had either a top six LW or 3L C that was good enough.

His best move might have been signing Wingels.
DeBrincat has been the most pleasant surprise.

- matt_ahrens

Hey Matt...yeah you're right so many bad moves to choose from by Stanbo...
putting a mostly AHL defense in front of the goalie certainly ranks right there.
And Moving Hammer was a big mistake. You've also got a lot of young guys as forwards as well.

Here's what I don't get Q supposedly hates the kids - but he's played a lot of them this season. It seemed like the Rutta/ Forsling pair seemed to be doing ok during the middle part of the season and we're getting minutes, but neither have seen the ice in some time. Rutta hurt and Forsling sent down so they can showcase other players.

I just don't see how they can let Stan continue to 'work his magic'. Sure Stan has added nicely around the edges to help secure two more Cups and he should be commended for that, but there's a pile of bad moves, and signings over the last several seasons that have put this team where it is and I can't see how upper mgt. can ignore those.

As Wiz points out - Q will have a job within a day if he's released. And I doubt he wants to go play golf a la Tallon. Stan well I can't see him getting another GM gig anytime soon.

So NY got a prospect and a #2 for Grabner. Despite salary I'd wager AA should be worth more than that.

Salary is reasonable and term not that long. Some term could be v attractive to CBJ who have anther year of Panarin to play with AA. And they know what they are getting with AA even without Panarin to center.

AA is a center (more value than a winger) and this is a hockey trade considering his contract (decent $ for a center and some term remaining). So AA should get more and I would think Columbus will do everything they can to entice Panarin to re-sign.

Only way Q stays is Rocky is a very sometimes to loyal boss . I think ,and it is only MO coach Q has thrown in the towel as a coach ,in Chicago anyway . I think the HAWKS need a younger coach in the Bruce Cassidy mode from Boston ..Someone like Sheldon Keefe of the Marlies or Kurt Muller Or Oates ,they need a coach to work with the players and GM ..Not try and Dictate who he wants Cap be dammed..

How about Hartman (bottom 6 winger) for Morin (an up and coming 5/6 dman). Sure would be nice to have some presence back there. Big tough kid with upside while Hartman fits the Flyers mold.

But look at Grabber stat's this year and last few. Going by the numbers Grabner outshines AA. You do have two different style of players. Team's give up on Grabner but some other team always wants to try him and he then produces

The erosion of the season ticket holder base is coming. I sit in the 100 level center ice and many are not renewing. I personally have been called 3 times this week by my season reservation rep, "Hoping that everything is OK, and to give her a call if I need anything." We all know that this is dog whistle language for ARE YOU RENEWING NEXT YEAR.
- TJYTJY

Maybe... but they have a waiting list and some on the list are willing to wait a few years for a winner.

Even if they do not sell out for a few years, the impact for a franchise with the other revenue streams the Hawks have will not be that great.

Also the revenue stream from season tickets is only a fraction of the total revenue from the franchise.

I am sure Rocky and McD want to play in front of a full house every night. But they have a pretty firm understanding of marketing and revenue. They will make decisions based on the long term best interests of the team.

It might not be bad to have some turnover in season ticket holders.

Who has the bigger salary these days - the Coach or the GM?

Coaches like Babcock, Q, Julien, Hitchcock, Trotz and a few others aren't intimidated by GM's that might chew them out or threaten to fire them for how and when players are or not used.

- RickJ

Both Q and Bowman are very highly compensated with salary and bonuses. I do not think that is a factor.

Honestly according to the media the only time a front office is on the same page in Chicago is when they win championships, otherwise the media always sells conflict, always

Comparing Tallon's situation in 2009 and Q's situation in 2018 is just wrong. If they reassign Q he will leave at the first opportunity (and it will not take him long to get that first opportunity).

Bringing over a C that Breadman likes is a very Cubs/Theo like move (Lester/Ross, Yu/that catcher guy etc) to entice a signing. Or in this case a re-signing.

CBJ jumping in on Anisimov is perfect. Let a bidding war begin over him between CBJ and Philly. I just hope that Bowman doesn't mess this up and get fleeced for him. If CBJ wants Panarin bad enough, I would imagine they would listen pretty hard on what the Hawks want in return.
