I love Grabner but I’d never trade a first round pick to get him. Not sure why so many of you think he’s worth that. This is a pretty good deal. The issue is it being the friggin Devils. 2nd round pick whether it’s 35 or 45 or whatever really doesn’t matter |

Rangers fans think they didn't get enough for a high scoring winger. Devils fans think they gave up too much for a bottom six rental in a year where they're by no means contenders.
If neither fan base loves the trade, it's probably a fair trade.
It'll all be okay when you guys get Kovy. |

He’s a question mark for sure but the deal is for the Pick. The prospect in this case is a throw in...organization depth move - Blueshirts16
said the same for the hagelin deal and look how that worked out. |

Sometimes in a trade there is not a winner or loser. It could be even. I think people are annoyed we didn’t outright fleece them. Overall we didn’t get fleeced either - nyrangers2
No, there is always a winner and loser. |

The problem is as fans we set our own standards as to what we think a player is worth. We are biased making those standerds. It don’t work that way. Bottom line is they got an extra pick and semi decent prospect for a guy they signed off the scrap heap basically and can sign again if they so choose - Slimtj100
There is truth to that. He just better not (frank)ing help the Devils win anything. Lol

So for the past two weeks all we heard was he wants to resign with the Rangers but 20 games in a Devil's uniform is going to undo all that? Come on Man!!! - MiloslavHorava
You can’t reason with these people, I try lol |

I feel like people always overrate the whole "trade him and resign him in the offseason" thing. How often does that actually happen? Though in this case for Grabner at least he doesn't have to move |

Maybe people are thinking that as long as Hank is here this team won't go full rebuild as has been the assumption that they're looking for close to NHL ready prospects so when they get a guy who may never set foot in country it might cause some uneasiness with fanbase |

True. Gropp is looking like he isn’t gonna make it. I think that’s a different scenario though. They weren’t dealing from strength because they had to move Hagelin over money. I’m okay with this deal |

The Devils thing is weird, and scary, I’ll say that haha. You have to have the belief the first wasn’t there nor was it going to be in a day or two. It’s the only rationale since they finally sat him tonight, it makes sense |

There is a lot of uncertainty with KHL guys. That’s definitely a part of my reservation.

I wasn’t. Just pointing out that if he was to stay in the K (which I believe is why he was involved in this deal) that the deal was mainly for the pick. That said, if he does come over, it’s gravy |

What is stated publicly isn't always reality. Although I'm the eternal pessimist, there is a good chance he resigns here since I don't see the Devils making a deep run. I'm 90% sure the last meeting between Grabs and Gorts was a handshake contract for next year, but you never know.

Real rebuild= more certainty in prospects
Half assed rebuild= more uncertainty
Look at the half assed prospects we got for the '04 sell off, Jarkko Immonen and Josef Balej.....this is what worried me, this is why I'm flipping out cause it's just never gonna be a home run again with this organization |

He's a good player. He'd a #4 d-man if ever panned out in the NHL. I just never knew that it was such a question mark that he would ever leave Russia. |
