That could be also why there is a delay in at least in key, the trading of Grabner to Toronto, if that rumor was true earlier to some reputable degree. The Rangers could be then trying to package McDonagh and Grabner to the Leafs for something bigger. The same could also be said for the others if they are interested in acquiring at least two of the three in Grabner, Nash, and McDonagh.
If Grabner heads to Toronto, just as when he left there & signed here as a free agent prior to last season, it would better the Rangers chances that he does so again this summer.

I suspect the Rangers will attract any and, maybe, all of the top undrafted college free agents that will have opportunities to play. Daniel Brickley seems like a match for both parties.

WIth the lottery, if your picking 5th for instance according to standings, how far can you fall back in the draft order? Are you locked in to picking 5th at worst?
