When I hear Libs say things I don't understand or agree w/, I actually try to understand why they think that way. On the other hand, most of the Libs I've talked to just say I'm stupid, or an idiot, or racist, etc.

I am a Conservative / Republican, and I BET I could sit down with a Liberal / Democrat and find plenty of common middle ground and in the end have the person across from me see me as an individual who has his OWN views and whose life experiences have shaped those views of the world and not as a robot who, because I am a conservative / republican, must subscribe to some hard line pre-determined beliefs that they have read about or heard about in the news.

You know, most people either don't know much, or just don't give a crap, about actual policy. I mean, how many people do you think either have the willingness or knowledge to argue the subtleties of Health Care policy or whatever. The problem with our country is that most people are just fundamentally ill-informed and just turn to yelling at each other as a substitute for not knowing jack poop about anything.

And every ill-informed bumhole has an opinion that we are supposed to just put on equal ground with everyone's else opinion just because.

We are doomed. Seriously.

But I feel like both parties have left many of their respective supporters behind as they rush towards these extreme opposites. So many people have common ground like you say, but this divide lately is making some people adopt every single belief of their desired party and completely denounce every belief of the other party.
