I think my parents went in about '06 or '07, but they actually really liked the food. They pointed out that everything always managed to come out absolutely piping hot, which is really neither here nor there...but interesting.
- eichiefs9

We stayed in B&Bs except for 2 nights in castles, and breakfast was always really good. Thing about dinner is that unless we got there early enough for dinner, everything closes at 6pm except for pubs which serve the obligatory Toasted and a bowl of soup with a pint of the dark stuff. Became a joke for us.
The 2 times we were able to eat earlier food wasn't bad.

I got over the everyone wants to go there so I don't want to thing when I went to Hawaii on my Honeymoon. Sometimes there is a reason why everyone wants to go there. I get the Islander Fan's point, however.

I have never been to Paris, but Florence, Italy is the best city I have ever been to, bar none, just amazing
- jimbo83

I've never done Italy, so that's definitely on the bucket list, as well as Spain. Also have heard awesome things about Prague from everyone that I've known that's been there. And Norway as well.

Nah, It was funny. My sister has always been very fit, eats healthy, etc. When she got home the first thing my grandmother said to her was "Boy, you look sturdy." This was like in 96

absolutely on bad contracts as long as the term does not extent past next year.

i.e... no Bobby Ryan

- climbdenali12

If Ottawa wants to dump Bobby Ryan on the Rangers fine. But I'd want back Colin White and Logan Brown.

I haven't made it over there yet, but I am dying to go to some "non-traditional" locations. I don't really give a damn about anywhere in England and, as much as I love Roman history, I don't really feel like going to a tourist trap like Rome. Not much interest in Paris, either. Not knocks on those places, I just don't like touristy-stuff.
- eichiefs9

My friend's sister got spit on in France for trying to order in French.
She's a real female dog, so that was awesome.
I'd like to see Stonehenge, that's the only touristy thing I would do.

My mom went to Greece last year, or the year before I think. She said it was up there as one of her favorites.

We had a "Pizza Party" while in Florence with our tour group. It was (frank)ing amazing. Walking around the city was also really cool. Nothing bad to say about Florence.

The Country is awesome if you go the right places, but Athens isn't the best once you see the essentials.

We went to Paris and London for our 15th Anniversary. Paris is pretty damn awesome, especially from a food perspective. Paris ruined restaurants for me in the United States, insofar as we will go out for a nice meal and all I can say is "ah, it was alright." Bottom line, if you want food, architecture, art and culture, Paris is the place to be. I actually liked Stockholm more than I liked London. Athens, as much as I hate to say this about my people, doesn't measure up.
- Pete V

OK, maybe Paris makes the list because I do love me some fine dining, guess I overlooked that obvious perk. Stockholm was on my list. I really want to go to Bosnia & Herzegovina and I have a buddy who's married to a Croatian girl and has been numerous times and raved about it. Pretty much anywhere in Greece would be attractive to me too, lots of history there since you people invented democracy and anal sex.

I felt entirely the same way and was worried about our trip to Europe.

I thought England was the tossed in garbage return city. Not one bit. It was very cool and there is a lot to see and do.

Rome was very busy and like you said was a bit of a tourist trap. Trick is to get away from the touristy area and you will be seeing a lot and eating so much better and cheaper. Vatican was cool and we got to see the Pope luckily enough. The place was absolutely mobbed.

Paris was great but like Rome you need to explore the areas away from the epicenter. Lot's of pick pockets and scammers there, too.

We also went to Switzerland (Lugano and Lucerne) which was really cool and the cleanest country I have ever been to. Also hit Florence and Venice in Italy.

Touristy trip, yeah 100% but you can make your own fun and experience.

- JRR1285

Yeah I wasn't knocking any of the places I said aren't on top of my list. I would love to see them, but there's just other places I think I'd rather see first. Everyone I know that's been to London said it was great but basically just British-NYC, except more expensive. Switzerland is another one I'd love to see, I know a few people that have been and loved it.

I feel that Yzerman is only teasing Gorton with this "talk" that they are interested in Karlsson, due to having to risk more in assets to acquire him, as opposed to McDonagh, both of whom are signed through the following 2018/19 season.
Karlsson has expressed that he wants to be the highest paid NHL player long term. There is no way based on their current highest paid players, that this could be possible, even if the cap should rise to somewhere between $82M to possibly $85M in two seasons.
The Lightning both currently and through the 2019/20 season, have approximately a $37M combined cap in only 6 players in Stamkos, Palat, Johnson, Callahan, Killhorn, and Hedman. In addition, they will need to re-sign in key to new deals for 2019/20, both Kucherov (now at $4.8M approx. cap hit), & Stralman (now at $4.5M), plus Vasilevsky in 2020/21 (now at $3.5M). Those three currently have a $12.8M cap hit.
So with 9 key players at about a $50M combined cap hit, they are going to pay Karlsson at least $12M, and possibly have to pick up Bobby Ryan's horrible $7.25M contract through 2021/22??? That would be approximately $70M tied up in cap among 11 players! They struggled just to re-sign Stamkos to his $8.5M annual deal.
Yes, a Cally could be bought out at some cost, or one or more of those mentioned could be dealt. But if Yzerman was not ready to include a Sergeachev in a deal to acquire McDonagh, what would part of a deal to acquire Karlsson cost him, (along with possibly being forced to take over Ryan's contract)? He was just rumored earlier to be seeking Mike Green of Detroit as an OFFENSIVE (for the most part) rental.
I don't buy his interest in Karlsson, for one that needs a better defensive minded d'man. He is only using him as a means to lower the price to pay for McDonagh, whom the Rangers do not have to deal right now, or even until the 2019 deadline.

I've read Natural Born Heroes a few times, so now I want to visit Crete. Add that I'm a huge mythology nut, and Greece is on the list. Probably never go though since Scotland and Ireland are much higher on the list.

Buddy and his wife did London on their honeymoon and liked it. English cask bitter is probably my favorite style, so I would love to spend a day in The Winchester just hanging out sipping bitter, otherwise give me the countryside after a day doing the London tourist thing.

Oh I know. Just letting you know if for some reason you are saddled with a few of those Cities you will still have a great time.

I really want to see Egypt and similar areas but I am afraid of their current political climate.
