I would also say no go on this.
Karlsson is a stud but he is gonna get paid big time. Taking Ryan's contract only makes sense if the other player you want is control able for the forsee able future. The Rangers will be left with two what could be grossly overpaid players in to start the 2020 season.

I'll take either one straight-up. Think it would be a good hockey deal for the Rangers. A little less so for the Leafs given the fact that they only have one more year of control over McDonagh.

Wouldn't this fit right in, perfectly, with Rangers lore? The two guys that could bring desperately needed high draft picks, prospects and/or established players suffered season ending injuries in a game against the Montreal Canadians. I can't believe they would not hold these guys out as they are extremely valuable to the future of the franchise. Are the Rangers that desperate for a win at any cost tonight? The scouts don't need another game to watch.They know what they are capable of. Letting them play is just NUTS.
Despite the Rangers' desire to get roster players in trade, playoff contenders aren't likely to part with guys who helped them get to where they are. Rangers might have to accept picks and prospects, rather than the deal including any roster players (unless they're cap dumps that will bring a bigger return).

Yeah, totally agree. I think they are playing with fire at this point.
I think the book is kind of written on RNH. He's in his 7th year in the league and that is pretty much in my view enough time to determine what a player is. He's a good player that going to give you somewhere between 45-55 points a year. That's who he is. He's not a first line center and he has the same type of contract that most wanted to get rid of with Stepan. He's a good second line center, but honestly, for the money he isn't worth an acquisition. He's just not the right player for the Rangers right now. - Pete V
