Everyone I know that's gone absolutely loved their trip, for whatever that's worth. |

Ireland/Scotland was my 1st choice for our honeymoon, but the wife nixed it. Not because she hated the idea, just not for a honeymoon.
My martial arts instructor went last year (his wife is from Scotland) and said it was the best trip he's even had.
With surprisingly good Indian and Thai food! - Tonybere
Sounds like another place to check out.
In England we found amazing Chinese food. Apparently they have a large population there. |

My parents did that exact trip for their (I think) 25th anniversary. I still haven't been but that's way up there on my list. They went all the way up to Belfast and as far south as County Cork. - eichiefs9
We just did the southern coast. Incredible trip! This was back in 1994, so Belfast was still sketchy, and we didn't have time to head up there anyway.
Only thing is, unless it's changed, you won't be seeing the Great Chefs of Ireland show. If you're into toasted ham and cheese sandwiches with awesome soup, you're golden. Did have a couple of decent meals, though.
The worst was Chinese food in Cork. Pretty inedible, coupled with Chinese people with an Irish accent was quite an experience. |

I have no doubt that I will. Have loved everywhere in Europe I've been, some places more than others, but I've never been to a European City that I didn't like.

I think my parents went in about '06 or '07, but they actually really liked the food. They pointed out that everything always managed to come out absolutely piping hot, which is really neither here nor there...but interesting. |

My wife wants to in November for my Birthday, because U2 is playing a three day set in Dublin. It's a possibility. Just not sure what its like there in November. - Pete V
We were married on October 28th, so we were there in November. Pretty moderate climate and it only really rained for 2 days. Not bad. |

I haven't made it over there yet, but I am dying to go to some "non-traditional" locations. I don't really give a damn about anywhere in England and, as much as I love Roman history, I don't really feel like going to a tourist trap like Rome. Not much interest in Paris, either. Not knocks on those places, I just don't like touristy-stuff. |

Did not say done in terms of he has been traded. Done in terms of definitely moving as some good offers on the table.. According to one of the clubs in the mix. |

I feel like the Rangers are getting a second fro Grabner at best (In terms of the pick) and we are all going to be let down. Maybe a prospect too, but not a 1st round pick. - MiloslavHorava
I'd be ok with a 2nd if the Prospect is high valued. |

We went to Paris and London for our 15th Anniversary. Paris is pretty damn awesome, especially from a food perspective. Paris ruined restaurants for me in the United States, insofar as we will go out for a nice meal and all I can say is "ah, it was alright." Bottom line, if you want food, architecture, art and culture, Paris is the place to be. I actually liked Stockholm more than I liked London. Athens, as much as I hate to say this about my people, doesn't measure up.

I felt entirely the same way and was worried about our trip to Europe.
I thought England was the tossed in garbage return city. Not one bit. It was very cool and there is a lot to see and do.
Rome was very busy and like you said was a bit of a tourist trap. Trick is to get away from the touristy area and you will be seeing a lot and eating so much better and cheaper. Vatican was cool and we got to see the Pope luckily enough. The place was absolutely mobbed.
Paris was great but like Rome you need to explore the areas away from the epicenter. Lot's of pick pockets and scammers there, too.
We also went to Switzerland (Lugano and Lucerne) which was really cool and the cleanest country I have ever been to. Also hit Florence and Venice in Italy.
Touristy trip, yeah 100% but you can make your own fun and experience. |
