I cant see anyway of making that work for edmonton without involving another team. Ryan would have to be in the deal simply to make it easier for edmonton to not shovel over draisaitl and a 1st for the next 10 years, but thats a boatload of salary we cant make up without giving back lucic RNH and Nurse to even make it worth it, and they arent doing that deal. Assuming everyone with NTC/NMC are ok with the deal which they wouldnt be.

Did the cap go up to 100 million? Did I miss the memo?

Teams would be looking at 2 first rounders, their top prospect, and a top 2 middle aged defenceman just to start. And that would be on the guarantee of resigning him only. If P.K. gets 9 mil a season, you damn well know he will want 9 mil or more.

What would you put together if you were Treliving for Erik Karlsson? Would you go after him? How would you fit him under the cap in 2019 and beyond?

Proposed ground rules...

1) Trade has to be something Ottawa would accept. A penalty of one shot of Crown, Goose or Turkey for putting out a poop offer of players no GM is going to accept

2) Flames have to be able to fit him in their cap, knowing Tkachuk and Bennett are also up after next year, goaltending is a "?" and they still have Brouwer/Frolik on the books. Penalties akin to the above would apply if the cap makes no sense

3) NMC/NTC, for the purpose of this chat, we will assume COULD be waived. There is a counter argument to players not wanting to waive that clause, but let's operate in the territory of it at least being possible.
