I think that's the key though. If you hit on your 1st rounders .... especially top 10 picks ...then everything else is gravy. - imsorry66
You get the top end players but you then lack the depth. |

Yeah, that’s how you become Edmonton. You need more picks in the latter rounds so you can find prospects like Gaudette. Plus you need to be smart with your cap.
It’s not just about tanking. |

Crazy how it's almost impossible to predict how a prospect will do. Vesey had 2 better seasons then Kerfoot every had in college. Kerfoot has 9 more points then Vesey did in 23 less games in the NHL.
Kyle Connor had 11 more points then Boeser in his first year of College. Now Boeser has 12 more points then Connor does in their first year in the NHL.
Guillaume Brisebois has 1 more point then Jakob Zboril. 66 pick compared to the 13 pick. |

Either way you cut it, 6 picks for a team like ours is unacceptable. |

I kinda like not having NHL players at the Olympics. Canada should have an actual national program for hockey. An additional option, maybe related to the university programs or something. |

I wouldn't say you need "more" picks. You have to get guys you want. It helps the cap when you aren't paying for a high first round pick. It also allows you to have a couple ELC on the team every year. |

It just doesn't make sense to hope that the NHL player you just traded away will turn into another NHL player. If that draft pick doesn't turn into an NHL player. What do you do then? Wait another year till you get another 7 picks and hope in the next couple years that one turns into an NHL player. That sounds like a revolving door of disappointment. |

I would take the prospect over Tanev at this point and not that specific prospect. He's always hurt and by the time we are competitive he will be gone anyway. Don't think we are getting a prospect and 1st from anyone for him. Especially with a broken leg. - imsorry66

The only reason I would sell low if he was helping Van win hockey games. He's injuried and he's not so who cares. |

If you have a GM who’s best strength is his drafting and your team has finished in the basement during 3 out of the last 4 years, why wouldn’t you want more picks? |

Over rated. College FAs os where it’s at. Trade picks for actual NHL talent every year and you will be alright. |

Too bad we’re not a contender and/or warm weather city. We get the 2nd tier college UFA’s unless they’re local boys. |

You could do that, but then you would have to pay a whole scouting department. My way saves the team a lot of money. |
