It’s both quantity and quality. Obviously if the team had an extra 1st or extra 2nd it’s a bit easier to live with having only 6 or 7 picks, but for a team in this position you want more than 7 picks every year, including having an extra pick in the top 3 rounds

Except it was Vanek's comments not management. I'm not getting much in mixed messages when Vanek says JB hasn't approached him about an extension. I never thought that intent was there in spite of managements cliche about exploring all options. They intend to trade him obviously.

With the speculation about names like Brock Nelson and Nick Bjugstad, combined with Benning saying he wants to make “a hockey trade” for a bigger top 9 forward.

You have to assume he’s offering up a smaller forward or young dman for these guys, I just hope he’s not including a pick to get it done. I wonder if Tryamkin’s rights get thrown in as well.
